An 8-month-old girl was bitten by a family pit-bull dog and died from her injuries Wednesday in Miramar, police said.
The baby was in the care of a grandmother during the attack, Miramar Police Officer Yessenia Diaz said outside a home in the 2400 block of Kingston Drive.
Nearby, a distraught man was being comforted by two women.
The male pit bull was 3 or 4 years old and had been raised by the family since it was a puppy, Diaz said. Its sibling and mother, both pit bulls, were also in the home.

There are cases of pitbulls saving their owners lives. I could post them here. There are 3.2 million pitbulls, and there were 39 deaths last year. There were deaths from other dog breeds as well, although not as many. There are around 600 attacks or so that cause injuries that aren’t fatal. If we factor that in, that’s .01% of all pitbulls. To ban all would be wrong because people would replace the with Rots, Cane Corsos, other Mastiffs, Kangals, Ovcharkas (things bigger and more dangerous). The best thing people can do is require a spay/neuter law and only allow responsible breeders to breed these dogs. I’ve interacted with many at shelters as the shelter is overrun. I’ve had very positive interactions, but people should be cautious with their kids and pitbulls and any dog.

So basically what you are saying is Pit Bulls killed far more people last year than all of the 100’s of different breeds of dogs put together? Hmmm.... I feel so much safer now.

This was what an ex producer told me. Just a conversation I remembered. I’ve even had Animal Planet producers who hate animals, which I found odd. It’s just money to these people..

Seems like more innocents have been killed in total by Pit Bulls than crazed school shooters. The pace is slow but the accumulation is greater.
What a crying shame this child was killed. They should have known better. Just like trusting a snake. These dogs are killers.
Worse than that. As I recall he berated anyone who dared to criticize the breed and declared them to be beyond ignorant. I believe he also mentioned harm to any pit bull critic.

My friend volunteers at a shelter in the hood. Of course, it is 95% pit-bulls. I've told him he's a social-worker, offering just another welfare scheme for irresponsible people in the inner city.

While there are a limited number of deaths, there are many more situations where kids are disfigured by such attacks.
Why put a child in a situation, dependent upon the mood of a dog, where they could be killed or maimed for life? There seems to be much better dog options available.
