The makers of Ambien don't want users to be worried about becoming racist, just because Roseanne Barr used their product as an excuse for her tweet about Valerie Jarrett on Tuesday.
"People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world," the company said in a statement to TheWrap Wednesday. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication."

Apparently it is a side effect. People drive, have sex, etc under the influence of that stuff with no conscious awareness.

Ambien really needs to be pulled from the market. Last weekend I heard of a distant cousin breaking her back because she climbed out of a 2nd story window on Ambien.
You’d think they would’ve pulled it after the Kennedy incident.

I think she has a defense if she was truly on Ambien, based on the side effects:
•confusion about identity, place, and time
•depersonalization
•quick to react or overreact emotionally
rapidly changing moods
•thoughts of killing oneself or changes in behavior
•changes in patterns and rhythms of speech
•Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients.

The irony is rich. Pharmaceuticals have definitely zapped the brains of millions of people. The “side effects include” is endless. If the pill is white, watch out!
When you’re in Panic Mode over your profit margin, and you can’t think of anything germane to say, try an utter non-sequitur.
I despise pharma sleep aids, Ambian included, but if a long time mental case goes mental and blames my product for the latest mental fit, as their ridiculous excuse, what company isn’t going to answer that absurdity, in kind?
Rosanne is screwy and for whatever reasons has exhibited disgusting behavior for YEARS. It’s unlikely that all that bizarre behavior and big nasty mouth of hers is a result of Ambian, for crying out loud.
A sane adult would stop using the Ambian. She admits to and gives examples of the drug’s effects. DUH.
The company response was on target and precisely addressed her race bait remark— and her product blame game, in one fell swoop. She is desperately ill.
