Walking Dead without Rick is like 24 without Jack Bauer. Lauren Cohan (Maggie) is leaving the show too.

Maybe if the writers found something interesting for his character to do, it might be worth watching.

Andrew probably wants more money, in any case I still enjoy the show. Hope it continues many story lines can be created.

love the walking dead but I personally feel that the longest a show should go on is about seven years....my reason is that the show grows stale and mean time you have some great actor and creative staff tied up to a show that has basically ran out of steam. I look forward to his next project because he is a great actor who I would love to see in other roles.

Rick’s boring character is the reason I quit watching after season 4. If they had killed him then, I might have kept watching.

way too much psuedo-profound angsty whining dialog last year ... i kept fast forwarding over that as well as all of the interminable full-auto battles ... and pretty soon i realized i was skipping almost entire episodes ...

The later seasons of the Walking Dead don't even resemble the show that attracted a huge audience that included people who never would have thought they would ever watch a show set in a the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. It was easy to relate to the characters and it could be very thought-provoking when it came to the character's struggle with morality and doing what's needed to survive. It should have ended at the prison because it went downhill fast after that. The characters make such dramatic and unrealistic changes from one extreme to another it's impossible to relate to them. It doesn't help that it's become more of a fantasy world either, with dialog that makes you cringe with the king, garbage people, and the over the top super villain.

It’s time. Knowing he’s done will bring in viewers for one last hurrah. I give it one more season after that and then it’s gone.

No longer watch the WD. The nonsensical, ridiculously staged “battles”, the maudlin melodramatics, the PC gay, muslim, etc story lines thrown in our face - all wore out what began as a fun and innovative series.

I did, however, enjoy the death of Carl. An annoying character played by a terrible actor. Unfortunately his welcome departure was dragged out over 40 plus minutes.

The last episode I saw was a few months ago - Basically another round of implausible battles in which third-level characters no one cares about get killed - and then ending with Maggie solemnly lamenting “the cost” of it all. ZZZZZ

Looks like they’re pulling the plug on the whole thing after season 9. Which is fine.

They should have taken a lesson from Breaking Bad. Write five tight seasons. Then end it strong.

To be honest, I thought this last season ended in a good enough place that it could/should have been the series finale. To have the story go on without THE star — Rick Grimes IS the hero/protagonist of the whole thing — seems impossible. The whole concept is getting rather stale and unless they are going to take it in a new, more positive direction I can’t see myself watching it anymore.

Maybe he and Michonne board the USS Nathan James and sail off to parts unknown, and encounter Mulder midwifing Scully giving birth to their virus-resistant child in the cave where Frankenstein's monster was entombed in ice. The monster becomes the protagonist when a near-miss phaser shot from the USS Enterprise thaws him out, and he and Jason Vorhees lay waste to the entire combined Borg/Cylon invasion force, with the crack shot of Boba Fett bringing up the rear.

Meh. I want to live on a new planet.
