R.I.P., Rick Grimes?
Andrew Lincoln is set to exit the AMC hit drama The Walking Dead during the upcoming Season 9, according to a report from Collider. Lincoln, who stars as Rick on the hit zombie thriller, will reportedly only appear in a half-dozen episodes in Season 9 before leaving the show for good. To compensate for the loss of its primary star, AMC is reportedly preparing to offer Lincolns co-star Norman Reedus (Daryl) substantial compensation to stay with the show and assume the lead role. (AMC declined to comment when TVLine reached out for confirmation.)
The Walking Dead is a show built for cast turnover, with characters often dying in shocking fashion, but the loss of Lincoln the face of the series for eight seasons now would be especially tough to overcome. Just last season, many fans protested when Ricks son Carl, played by Chandler Riggs, was killed off. Plus, Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, will be starring in the new ABC drama Whiskey Cavalier, and will only return to TWD next season on a part-time basis.
He looks bored and tired in it, and Lic is too talented to stay another 2 years. I think Reedus will sign up. He makes more cash at conventions than the actual show lol
The show is over ANYWAY.
I said that if Negan hadn't been killed in a horrible way by the end of this season, I was done with the Walking Dud. Now that they're losing just about everyone anyway, it's a good time to bail.
Never watched it after Season 2. I’m surprised it’s still going. Nine years of evading zombies and sociopaths is enough I think.
“Walking Dud”
lol
The show hasn’t been watchable since Season 6.
My advice to the wannabe John Barrymore is to make hay while the sun shines. After this it's going to be "Rick who?".
If they could do it with love and respect for the character, it would revitalize the entire storyline and give them another 6-years of good shows. (And lots of money)
After watching The Walking Deadfor the last few years I have come to the point that Im getting bored with the series anyway.Maybe Andrew Lincoln sees it the same way.
This show seems to go no where and there seems to be little prospect for the characters on the show.
The first five seasons of TWD were some of the most enjoyable TV I've ever watched.
Season 6, I started having my doubts which increased with Season 7 and the Negan storyline. By the end of Season 7, I was exhausted. I haven't watched a minute of Season 8, having completely thrown in the towel.
Honestly, they could kill off pretty much every character and start over from scratch, and it would be an improvement.
Better yet. Let's just start with Day One of the Zombie Apocalypse in an entirely new location with an entirely new cast, say Denver.
Agree with you. I’ve been disinterested in the last couple of seasons. It’s lost what hooked me; how society functions and humans relate in the gravest of situations. Now it’s Rick vs Negan in multiple episodes of my **** is bigger than yours. Not sure I’ll watch the next season.
Shelley Long was way better than Kirstie Alley
Robert Kirkman hates conservatives so thatll never happen.
From what I have read they ruined this show by following the Negan narrative for far too long.
They basically did that with Fear the Walking Dead, and its been a POS since day one.
Coral! Im comin to join you, Coral! This is the big one!
Ping
It used to have like 17 million viewers, now I think it's down to 8 million, still decent for a Cable show but the show is LAME & REPETITIVE now!
Who hated this last Season? They kept on having Negan cornered but keep on letting him get away over & over!
It was getting repetitive + the show was sooo DARK, I could barely see ANYTHING & I would just doze off
The show where everyone has an automatic and rounds are scarce. Yeah, that one. And no one thought of making it to an island on the Eastern seaboard and deal with a finite number of dead.
