Various NFL players are reportedly discussing different forms of protesting in response to a new policy requiring players to stand for the national anthem.
I talked to a former NFL player yesterday who has said that players are already talking about other ways in which they can protest," NBC's Craig Melvin said on "Today" on Thursday.
Melvin did not specify which players he spoke to, or what other forms of protesting they were considering.

A different form? Well, for the sake of amusement, I'm partial to the "lift the leg" approach.

I guess I’m stuck then. I have no new forms of not watching football.

I read an excellent idea the other day.
Assess a 15 yard penalty on the teams first play for every kneeler.
7 kneelers act out? That’s a 15 yard penalty on every first down 7 consecutive times.
To: C19fan
If they really want to make a difference, maybe they should try something more effective than kneeling during the anthem. Like maybe getting out into neighborhoods and teaching kids respect, honor, morality, manners, etc.

And yet before you know it there will be multiple threads here on FR cheering on there favorite team, by ‘Patriots’ who should know better but just have to have their football fix.

Since these millionaires are so offended by any rules their employers want to implement, they should leave. Form their own football league, back their hype with action. I’m sure it would be a wildly successful endeavor, without whitey treating them like slaves on the plantation. (last sentence sarcasm)

I don't know if NFL advertisers understand that it's people like me that are the ones tuning out on Sundays (and every other day). We're the ones who served in the Armed Forces, paid our taxes, obeyed that law and, today, can afford a Caribbean vacation,an Audi or Lexus and other "luxuries".
Yet now, having tuned out, they should understand that we won't be seeing any of those ads for cruise lines or ads proclaiming the newest Audi model to hit the showrooms.
