Schools are removing analogue clocks from examination halls because teenagers are unable to tell the time, a head teachers union has said.
Teachers are now installing digital devices after pupils sitting their GCSE and A-level exams complained that they were struggling to read the correct time on an analogue clock.
Malcolm Trobe, deputy general secretary at the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL), said youngsters have become accustomed to using digital devices.
The current generation arent as good at reading the traditional clock face as older generations, he told The Telegraph.

Even the schools have a fundamental misunderstanding of what ‘school’ means.
I guess teaching kids how to read a clock is not a priority in schools. How hard could that be?
I first ran into this in 2005 when my 16 year old daughter had a friend over at our home. She was crying because she could not determine the time on her own?
Losers. Takes 30 seconds to learn how to read a clock.
The Paki population still hasn’t mastered the sundial yet. Or basic human hygiene for that matter.
My local technical school removed the digital clocks because they found too many kids unable to read an analog clock.
Times change. I bet most can’t use a slide rule, either...

She was 15 years old and could not tell time on an analog clock..........................
Problem: Students can’t read analog clocks.
Solution: Remove analog clocks.
Pure genius.

Sounds like British education is as good as British healthcare. Just ask Alfie Evans.
The time is the same for the students of all genders in every bathroom. That is what matters. Not the ability to read a clock or a rotary phone.
I know that it seems like “Olden Days” to these kids, but I started Grammar School in the 1970s. By the time that I was in First Grade, I learned how to tell time. It isn’t that blasted difficult, kiddies.

Well the good news is when the EMP strike takes out all digital clocks, it will become the proverbial “Lord of the Flies.”
When I was in school, telling time was taught in 2nd grade. It doesn’t seem like it would take more than an hour to teach a teen or an adult to read a clock.
