Folks I have a killer cat that has killed more birds, mice and squirrels than you can imagine. She has a pet door that allows her to come and go as she pleases. She just brought me, unharmed, a baby rabbit. The animal kingdom is hard to understand at times.
Living way out in the country, they have their freedom, kill their share of mice and snakes, life is good.
I had two cats with a pet door. We could always tell when spring started because the cats would bring in "toys"-rabbits, mice, lizards, birds, bats, etc... . The rabbit may not look like it has a mark on it, but I can assure you that the cats fangs cut right through the skin.
I’ve read that too....cats are killing off the song birds...
That’s cool. Teaching the cat catch and release.
Nope, healthy and sprite, got it in a box at the moment, killer cat knows how to leave a mark, had a dead squirrel in front of the camode two days ago.
Let me know if you have too many bird-killing cats in your yard and neighborhood.
I will come over and kill them all for you.
The birds, that is. Pus-bag.
Cats bring you such presents because they love you. And they hunt for food. They bring you half a mouse because they love you, too. Or at least want you to know they accept you despite your being a human ( such an obviously -inferior species) REJOICE ! And be sure to thank your kitty with a nice fresh Costco rotisserie chicken. Cats appreciate such gestures, tributes from their servants
We once drove through the drive through animal park in Ardmore, Oklahoma on our way back to Dallas from Minnesota. We had our two cats with us, one male and one female. The funniest part was when we parked next to the enclosure with the tiger. The male cat, Wimp of Beasts, was glued to the floorboard and the female was on the seat and sneaking peeks over the window ledge with the, “boy, that’s a big one” look on her face. We kept the windows up the whole time in the park.
My 15 year old cat used to do this for me in her youth. Brought me a big, black, dead rat one morning and put it on the floor by my bed. I was thrilled. She also used to bring me praying Mantis inscects with the heads bitten off.
We think our tuxedo cat is part Burmese...he jumps on shoulders so he can walk around and watch what’s going on from on high....he’s mean, too.
After the females abandoned ship. I got a beer and a quiet 30 minutes before I removed the bat from the house. It wasn't hard. The bat immediately went to the curtains and hid. I got a small trash can and put it over the curtain and shook. After I heard the squeaks of the bat, I put a piece of cardboard over the top and took it outside.
I was able to get a second beer before the females of the house returned.
I have always wondered how I could schedule that kind of event.
Ha!...my cat did that with a baby bunny too! Vet said when they bring you these unharmed ‘they’re showing you’ what great hunters they are and want your approval.
We know she’s a great hunter, she bring birds inside the house while still alive and lets them loose so she can chase them from one side to the other.
Exactly! “Kitty’ put it down in front of me, which I quickly caught with a shoe box, took it out on the deck, (Kitty inside) and it promptly jumped out of the box and tore off like lightening....never thought the little thing could run so fast...it was gone in seconds!
Of course Kitty was completely bewildered, what a hoot that was, .... where was her prize! LOLOL!
Sorry, but knowing cats it’s probable she brought it to you alive thinking you might enjoy the fun of torturing the bunny to death as much as she would.
A few years ago someone dumped off a Norwegian Forest Cat kitten and it set up home on our back deck. I brought her in and she bonded only to me. She hates everyone else in our house but spends as much time as possible on my lap and I am the only one who can pet her.
