Most rabbits are dawn and dusk animals. Let it loose tonight. It will figure out what to do. If you let it out in the morning there is a good chance that another predator will eat it.

I had two cats with a pet door. We could always tell when spring started because the cats would bring in "toys"-rabbits, mice, lizards, birds, bats, etc... . The rabbit may not look like it has a mark on it, but I can assure you that the cats fangs cut right through the skin.

OBTW, you want to see estrogen fueled excitement? Let your cat prance into the den carrying a bat, get bored and let it loose.

After the females abandoned ship. I got a beer and a quiet 30 minutes before I removed the bat from the house. It wasn't hard. The bat immediately went to the curtains and hid. I got a small trash can and put it over the curtain and shook. After I heard the squeaks of the bat, I put a piece of cardboard over the top and took it outside.

I was able to get a second beer before the females of the house returned.

I have always wondered how I could schedule that kind of event.
