Remains belonging to one of one of the most famed poets of the Romantic Movement have been rediscovered in a wine cellar, following a recent excavation.
The coffin of literacy genius Samuel Taylor Coleridge was uncovered in a hidden vault that had been long forgotten about.
This space was integrated into the crypt of St Michael's when the church was built in 1831, which is located near the top of Highgate Hill in north London.

I must admit, there is something poetic about a poet being buried in wine cellar.
Opium dream. That's pretty good. Not sure how I'd react to a family buried in the basement, though. I freak out when I find a dead mouse.
“rediscovered in a wine cellar”
Were they first discovered somewhere else?
If one reads the article, one will discover that the coffins were moved there in 1961, but in less than 60 years they had been forgotten about.
It is an ancient Mariner,
And he stoppeth one of three.
‘By thy long grey beard and glittering eye,
Now wherefore stopp’st thou me?
The Bridegroom’s doors are opened wide,
And I am next of kin;
The guests are met, the feast is set:
May’st hear the merry din.’
Yes, in a local brewery. The locals move him around from place to place as sort of inside joke...
;-)
Merlot, Merlot everywhere,
and him too dead to drink...
...or something...
Near Poe’s Cask of Amontillado?
You know anything about this?
First - I want to be buried in a wine celler and my coffin be the bar. How cool! :)
Second - Neil Peart read that book and was moved to write Xanadu. Well, probably the whole of 2112. Genius on Genius.
To seek the sacred river Alph
To walk the caves of ice
To break my fast on honey dew
And drink the milk of Paradise
I had heard the whispered tales
Of immortality
The deepest mystery
From an ancient book. I took a clue
I scaled the frozen mountain tops
Of eastern lands unknown
Time and Man alone
Searching for the lost Xanadu
Xanadu To stand within The Pleasure Dome
Decreed by Kubla Khan
To taste anew the fruits of life
The last immortal man
To find the sacred river Alph
To walk the caves of ice
Oh, I will dine on honey dew
And drink the milk of Paradise
A thousand years have come and gone
But time has passed me by
Stars stopped in the sky
Frozen in an everlasting view
Waiting for the world to end
Weary of the night
Praying for the light
Prison of the lost Xanadu
Xanadu Held within The Pleasure Dome
Decreed by Kubla Khan
To taste my bitter triumph
As a mad immortal man
Nevermore shall I return
Escape these caves of ice
For I have dined on honey dew
And drunk the milk of Paradise
“Literacy genius.” M’kay.......
Perhaps you could write a poem about it?
The wine was all gone.
Let's see, from a brewery to a wine cellar. I guess the next stop will be either a distillery, a hookah café or a marijuana dispensary.
For those of us who spent our formative years in Viet Nam, lest we forget, “Confessions of an English Opium Eater”
“Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink.”
For the love of God, Montresor!
