FULL TITLE: Shocking new pictures lay bare Death Row inmate's injuries from botched execution he said was so painful that he just wanted doctors to 'get it over with'

A Death Row inmate wished for death during a botched execution that saw him stabbed 11 times in the legs and groin with needles.

Doyle Lee Hamm was due to be executed on February 22 for the murder of Patrick Cunningham, but the procedure had to be called off after doctors were unable to find a vein.

Hamm, who was too weak to stand after the ordeal, was left bleeding from the groin and urinated blood an hour later, a medical examiner's report says.

Bernard Harcourt, Hamm's attorney, had warned ahead of time that cancer treatment had left him with compromised veins and that he was likely to be subjected to 'cruel and needless pain.'

Harcourt has now launched a legal suit against the Alabama Department of Corrections, saying Hamm's treatment amounted to torture.

On Monday a medical examiner's report including new images of Hamm's injuries were filed which give an account of his suffering.

According to an interview with Hamm carried out by Dr Mark Heath, an anesthesiologist from New York, on the night of the execution he was taken into a chamber with around nine people inside and strapped down to a gurney.

Two men dressed in hospital scrubs then took a leg each and worked their way up attempting to find a vein.

Those injuries look consistent with the ones I have when Iget my blood drawn every 6 months for my doctor visit.

I have had far worse than that from giving blood to the Red Cross.

It is a little painful but certainly not cruel and unusual punishment.

The press is making something out of nothing because it is a failure of capital punishment.

The same thing might happen if they were trying to start an IV to save his life.

But for the Libs that would be Okay because it would be to save the life of a murder.

Maybe it is time to bring back the firing squad. Just to spare the guilty the trauma of needle pokes.

Unfortunately, his victim isn’t available to comment.

I knew the last person, Lynda Lyon, who took that ride in Yellow Mama. Her boyfriend/common law hubby, George Sibley, took the chemical route.

A rifle shot to the heart is insanely painful and usually takes about five minutes for the victim to die. Trust me on this one.

My arm has looked like that after a blood test.
My question is, why we’re they spending money on this guy’s cancer treatments? Let the cancer do its job, problem solved. HPpens to law abiding people with no insurance all the time, unless they’re illegals of course.

non-toxic, and lethal.

I find that statement to be a bit incongruous. Non-toxic and lethal.

Water is no-toxic and yet lethal. So’s a rope.

Well, in that vein (sarc), everything is toxic if you ingest or breathe enough of it.

A 12 Gauge to the head is very fast, and can easily be repeated as needed.

Yes, you got it! They worry too much about putting the felon to sleep “humanely” and not carrying at all for the victim’s life that felon took in an instant and the victim’s family left behind.

Why is he on Death Row? How did he kill his victims? I suspect it was merciful and did not hurt? Perhaps he should be killed in a matching way.

Or carbon monoxide - perp just goes to sleep and never wakes up. Or overdose of sleeping pills. Etc. Lots of painless ways. The reason we use lethal injection is because anti-death penalty types pushed it as humans knowing full well it is anything but hunane. The plan was then to point at botched executions to push for a ban of the death penalty or at least make it very expensive. IOW this case is an example of their strategy.
