And the French eat snails ( which helps them pronounce their lingo as long as they keep the snails in their mouths)

The Russians have an extremely fishy tasting fish “delicacy” that I couldn’t handle when I tried it in St. Petersburg. This Swedish dish apparently is even worse.

There’s videos all over YouTube of people trying to eat it and vomiting. I find them incredibly funny.

I wouldn’t touch that stuff, either.

I’d eat fried bugs first. Grotesque.

So, this is worse than the notorious Lutefisk?

Well, the Spanish eat testicles of various animals, so it goes.

We have Rocky Mountain Oysters here in Colorado and elsewhere in the West. I won’t touch them.

And when the juices spray the face of the woman sitting next to him, another participant says something we absolutely can’t translate into English (in Spain they’re a bit more liberal when it comes to swearing).

“Me cago en la puta...” Pure Spanish gold right there. Very versatile.

“And the French eat snails”

So do the Chinese. I’ve had both, and they’re wonderful! I prefer the Chinese snails, which I think are gathered in the rice paddies. They are tiny and you pry open the door, and eat the with toothpicks. In Black Bean Garlic sauce? YUM!

Yes, I would describe it more as swearing with real passion.

Several years ago I was eating in a Korean restaurant that had a TV on that was tuned to some sort of Korean channel they were presumably getting from satellite. A game show was on (in Korean, with no subtitles) in which the contestants had to consume increasingly weird foods. (Weird even to them.) The final food was some sort of thing that was almost two feet long and had a hinge in the middle. I couldn't see it clearly because it was obscured by pixelated censoring. The contestants couldn't deal with it.

A hinge?

Some kind of articulated "organ" from an unknown creature.

Surströmming is not the same thing. Pickled herring is quite edible and not particularly smelly. I grew up in a house with my Swedish grandmother who had been a cook in her younger days, and we ate the pickled stuff often. Surströmming was NEVER on the menu.
