Condi Rice: it’s time to discuss what 2nd Amendment ‘means in the modern world’
The Washington Times ^ | 2-23-2018 | Jessica Chasmar

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Friday that it’s time to discuss what the Second Amendment “means in the modern world” in light of last week’s mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Ms. Rice, who served under President George W. Bush, said that while the Second Amendment remains “indivisible,” she doesn’t think civilians should have access to guns like the AR-15, which was used by 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz to fatally shoot 17 students and teachers on Valentine’s Day.

“I think it is time to have a conversation about what the right to bear arms means in the modern world,” she told radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt. “I don’t understand why civilians need to have access to military weapons. We wouldn’t say you can go out and buy a tank.”

Do we suffer a few dead, or millions and millions and millions?

She is utterly naive, or at worst complicit. We live in a very dangerous world, enemies within, enemies without, extremely dangerous enemies at that. I

We have a right and even a duty to be prepared to defend ourselves. You can be sure that many evil governments have not attempted to take over our Country because of our brave and determined armed citizens. You can be sure that there are forces within our own Country that want us to become their subjects, bowing to their every whim, groveling at their feet with our lives held over our heads, any many defiant subjects murdered for the good of their state.

People who expect us to trust the government and lay our arms at their feet are living in a naive dream world, and completely blind to history. We are expected to believe that nothing bad could ever happen here. We are not stupid.

We know what kind of forces are working behind the scene to rob us of our freedom, even our lives. We know the history of the world and what happened to people who thought that all was well and would remain so. We are well aware of the millions and millions of people who have been murdered at the hands of those who took over because people thought that terrible things could not happen to them, in their countries.

After seeing the police saving all of those children near the dumpster, I would say the second amendment is here to stay.

During the Revolutionary War the soldiers had the same weapons as the civilians who answered the call.

Personally, I don’t see where a hunter needs a semi-automatic AR15. When I was a kid people would go deer hunting with a 30.06 and three rounds.

Now, if the Founding Fathers knew what’s going on today they’d probably add “the people have the right to defend themselves from an out of control government and they shall be able to possess the same weapons as the army”. And the cops.

Bottom line is it’s none of my business what a person uses to hunt. And The Constitution does not mention an age.

I think it is time to discuss treason in the modern world Ms Rice. The use of guns in the firing squad would be a good idea.

In other words, take your New World Order and shove it you criminal piece of filth.

I was going to say... The world is pretty savagely brutal but the tools are different. What was it that Einstein said - World War 3 might be fought with nuclear weapons but World War 4 will be fought with sticks and stones.

The Weaponry is advanced but humans don’t seem to advance that much from inherited behaviors.

Which as a human, I feel the need to have every ability at my disposal to protect myself as I see fit.

“I don’t understand why civilians need to have access to military weapons...“

Condi, you ignorant political slut: The second amendment is precisely for military (militia, armed men) activity, for battle with enemies of America, foreign or domestic, that ‘we the people’ may encounter.

Those who won’t understand that out themselves as unAmerican.

She lost my admiration years ago for her stance on abortion. So I’m not surprised she is weak on the 2A as well.

Agreed.

Condi skipped History classes grades K through graduation from Stanford ergo she’s Historically illiterate.

“The Second Amendment wasn’t written to protect hunting and sports, or even personal defense. The second amendment was justified completely as protection from tyranny by government.”

Which was how it was described by Hubert H Humphrey in 1960. A liberal - for 1960. So has the GOPe of 2018 gone to the left of the Democratic Party of 1960?

Chilling. As I was reading through this thread I was thinking the same thing.

I had a bad day, so maybe it's just my nerves being on edge.

Well, the Constitution is a “living, breathing” document that changes with the times. We really don’t need Amendments to change it.

Well in Alaska, you need a semi Auto rifle because the Griz attack at 35 mph. In brush if you miss your bolt action shot, you just might have bought the farm. So when I went Caribou hunting, I used a semi Auto .308

Camped over night, had to keep the fire going all night because if you don’t, you end up Griz scat. Griz tracks every where, they are hunting the Caribou just like you.

Do you REALLY want to take a bolt action out there?

Lost a couple of pets to wolf packs in town. Yeah, wolf packs. Yes, I carry a spare clip or two, cause sometimes the packs hunt people.

You REALLY want a single action pistol walking your dog at dusk?
