For a retirement present, one New York broadcast legend has filed a lawsuit against another.
Warner Wolf is taking Don Imus and three others to the New York State Supreme Court, alleging Wolf was let go from WABCs Imus in the Morning show at the end of 2016 because of age discrimination and is owed severance, as well as damages for severe mental anguish, emotional distress, humiliation, among other maladies.
Imus is scheduled to retire from his show at the end of March. He regularly makes fun of everything and everybody.
In the suit, Imus is the first one named as a defendant, along with WABC GM Chad Lopez, Cumulus Sr. VP Mike McVay and WABC program director Craig Schwalb. The claim was filed late Thursday morning, and a copy was obtained by The Post.
Wolfs lawyer, Douglas H. Wigdor writes, Imus routinely made inappropriate comments about the Plaintiffs age, including stating that it was time to put [Mr. Wolf] out to pasture and shoot him with an elephant dart gun.
In 2016, the suit says that Imus replaced Wolf, then 78, because of his age and hired Sid Rosenberg, who was 30 years younger.

Agree, Warner is great, Sid is a piece of work. Interesting, age discrimination when both individuals (Warner- 78) and (Sid -48) are both considered members of a protected class. Both are over 40
Interesting to see Warner forcing this issue after being an active participant in the shenanigans that are a part of the IMUS playbook.
I remember WW on WTOP, flipping over his predictions on the Saturday, or was it Friday, night’s broadcast.
He also called them ho’s. Slander.......................
“He is a Marine though”
A drunken bugle boy Marine.
I used to listen to him. The Ranch scam did it for me though.
I suggest the team, and Rutgers alumni, and every other snowflake embrace a new concept called “consequences” .
Just a few months before the student body was in the news for taking up the chant “Fuck Navy” at a ballgame with Annapolis. At no time did the Women's Basketball Team apologize.
They already conceded the “Ho.” Part. That's what suggesting sex be implemented upon visitors entails.
Now that hour slander drivel has been debunked, what do you have against Imus? Other than sounding like he still drinks everytime you hear him talk?
If I remember correctly it had nothing to do with his age, but his work arrangement. They were broadcasting the show from multiple locations, and he was in a separate studio where they had a number of coordination problems with the other members of the show's crew.
His legal action was based on very specific language in his contract that called for him to be abrasive and offensive on the air. Seriously. LOL.
That might be a defense.
Over 40, Wolf? So is your replacement.
Case dismissed.
What does Rutgers have to do with UCONN?.............
They got killed on Iwo too.
I don’t know why I was think UCONN...............They have a good BB team too.................That’s Basket Ball, not Black B!#3Hes.............
abrasive and offensive?..................Well, he definitely fulfilled that part of his contract...................
I think Rutgers and Duke were playing for the women’s title that year ... or maybe they were facing each other in the semifinals to see who would play UConn?
And as a fairly regular listener, Wolf laughed at all the age references. My God, Bernie made a career of mocking Imus’s advanced years.
I remember watching UConn that year. I enjoy a good Basketball game, although I had no dog in that fight. Women’s basketball is more enjoyable to watch, and they actually dribble the ball....................
The original ABC Monday Night Baseball crew:
- Warner Wolf
- Bob Prince
- Bob Uecker
Best baseball broadcast team EVAH!!!
Their has got to be an old Larson comic strip that has two fossils in it going at it, that is this in a nutshell. It is a miracle they aren’t both off to the glue factory.
Warner’s a funny guy, though I agree with a previous post, Mike Breen was the best sportscaster for Imus’ foolishness...before the bad ol’ nappy days.
It was the Rutgers Women’s basketball team about whom the “Nappy Headed Hos” remark was made.
And a lot of people at the time who don’t like Imus defended him on the basis of the behavior of the Rutgers student body towards the navy team. Certainly I am not a fan of any shock jocks.
I will ask you, what does UCONN have to do with the “Nappy Headed Hos” incident?
