Disney ticket prices on rise in Orlando, theme-park operator says

Ticket prices at Walt Disney World will increase, effective Sunday. The hike comes as Disney tries to even out attendance throughout the year so guests aren’t stuck waiting in line and have a better time. Walt Disney World posted record-breaking attendance in the quarter that ended in December, Disney executives said during an earnings call Tuesday with investors. The cost increase will vary from park to park as well as which day since Disney offers a three-tiered system for peak, regular and value tickets. Annual passes, including those for Florida residents, are also on the rise.

At the gate, a one-day regular Magic Kingdom ticket will cost $119, a $4 increase. A value ticket will cost $109, a $2 increase, while a peak ticket will now cost $129, a $5 increase.

Went to 4 days at Disney World and stayed at the on-site resort. Dropped over $5,000 and was sorely disappointed.

Then we went to Universal and stayed at the on-site there for 5 days. We spent about $2,500 and had a wonderful time. Better food, shorter lines and dropping the extra $200/day for the Express Pass was well worth it. Will happily go back to Universal. The rides aren’t as immersive as Disney; but dollar for dollar, it is a far better deal, IMHO.

The only “off” season is to allow less heat and less crowd. The prices are the same and many rides are closed. But it beats the heat and the tourists. We hadn’t been in a long time. And won’t go again for a long time, and we used love having passes. It’s no correlation to people’s incomes.

That’s expensive for a family - have to save up for it.

No friends or relatives who work at the park? Every DLand addict should have one of those.

My two oldest who have graduated high school went with the band to march in Florida. I tell my youngest with the prices it doesn’t like he’ll go. Just too expensive

Disneyland is all about greed now, Walt of course was a taskmaster and did not want to pay talent their true value, his excuse was they did step up to earn more. After his death however the level of greed has risen exponentially! Walt may at times spin in his grave from some of the unbelievable crap and anti family spew emitted by his company, but I can't help believing he would be smiling at all the money being squeezed out of his "guests".

As long as people are willingly giving up so much of their income to spend time in the Greediest Place on Earth, standing in line for a handful of rides, and being gouged for mediocre at best food, these annual prices increases will continue to happen.

My BIL works at Disney and can give us free passes, it's just not worth the aggravation. The last time we went was two years ago mid week while school was in session, parking cost I think about $18 (So much for free) and once we got past the oh so fun character search of our possessions to get into the park it was so crowded we could hardly move let alone get to attractions. I wouldn't go again for free, I sure as hell wouldn't pony up the price to go there out of pocket ever.

School terms aren't going to change any time soon so Disney is wishing upon a fake star.

Downtown Disney used to be a fun place to hang out after the park closed. It’s all gone. All gone.

Gays (mostly employed somewhere locally by Disney) and 'urban youths' quickly ruined it with their antics.

My parents advised us in 2009 that they wanted the whole family to go to Disney World in 2011 for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. We scrimped and saved for those two years. We all went and had a good time, but only because we were with our family. We have been boycotting all things Disney pretty much ever since, for a variety of reasons, and never plan to go back.

Only left wing maggots can come up with a statement like this:

Ticket prices at Walt Disney World will increase, effective Sunday. The hike comes as Disney tries to even out attendance throughout the year so guests aren’t stuck waiting in line and have a better time.

Seems like a lot of complaining by people who allegedly believe in the free market. I wouldn’t spend this kind of money there, but since an excess of people are ready willing and able to pay the price, I see no problem with this.

If they could get $500 a day a ticket, let them. Who out there thinks he’s entitled to go there for less than Disney asks?

Why not just triple the admission price 3 days out of the week for the diehards who want no crowds or long line waiting?
Or just one day?

Agreed. Stop going to anything disney...includes abc..espn...movies...their products are trojan horses to get their flawed world view into our kids heads...i saw it at epcot center 1993...and will never forget it.

Well, I’m planning on going to Disneyland next month, will be in LA for 4 days and I think my 4 year old angel will enjoy it. Went in 92 and it was fun except for the long lines, I hope this is an off time (a Wed or Thurs).

Never been to Disneyland. I can’t stand crowds or waiting in line. To pay $100 to be abused like that is insane.
