Leftists Now Believe the New York Times Is a “White Supremacist,” “Nazi” Paper

On Saturday, Ross Douthat published a column for the New York Times arguing that White House Senior Policy Advisor Stephen Miller should be included in negotiations about immigration policy because he represents the opinions of tens of millions of Americans. Somewhat predictably, the Times’s liberal readership was none too pleased by the idea that proponents of increased restrictions on legal immigration would be given a seat at the table alongside proponents of amnesty, and many took to Twitter to express their displeasure. Some more unhinged commenters labeled the Times a “white supremacist paper,” while others were content with simply suggesting that Douthat is a racist.

Because Saturday was Holocaust Memorial Day, some Twitter leftists apparently thought that Douthat’s piece was promoting Nazism or attacking Jews. Canadian film producer and actress Nadine Van der Velde was especially perturbed:

Well, I wouldn’t say God desires to control us. We have free will, and although He calls us to serve, we can choose to go the other way. Of course that has consequences, but when people refer to “fear of the Lord”, it’s not fear of what He will do, but fear of what He won’t do. If we turn away from Him, He’ll turn away from us, and leave us to our own devices. That’s what you should fear.

Yeah, it’s more like “what He’ll do” in my case. As far as I can tell, he’s totalitarian, even if He DID give us free will. When he’s omniscient, not to mention omnipotent, having free will is literally irrelevant because He can’t be supplanted or defeated or even harmed in any way, he’s untouchable. In fact, my view of God, or at the very least someone who is omnipotent, is closer to someone who boasts to His creation “I have the greatest power in existence! You might as well be the dirt on the bottom of my shoes, or the dirt stuck to the bottom of that dirt!” Heck, God can even manipulate people into doing what he wants DESPITE their free will (and when I think of free will, I think rebellion, willful rebellion, not servitude). I mean, if I were God, I’d give my creation free will and even with that I’d STILL force them to do my bidding with constant threats of what would happen if they disobey me, precisely because they literally have no chance at stopping me anyways even WITH their free will and thus don’t see any reason to be nice to my creation.

My view of God is closer to a nightmare, and ultimately the roots for that lay with the ending of Raiders of the Lost Ark. That as well as these bits:

*https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrVThXFnE1s (Ocelot’s bit is on 3:13 where he makes apparent how the Patriots are all knowing, though watching from start to finish would aid somewhat);

*https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKl6WjfDqYA (main action starts on 0:12);

*http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/914506-the-document-of-metal-gear-solid-2/faqs/28220 (f is especially noteworthy, though the other scenes have hints towards the Patriots’ involvement as well);

*http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/914506-the-document-of-metal-gear-solid-2/faqs/27630 (Again, the specific sections g, h, i, j, o, p, q, r, t, u, x, y, bb, cc, dd are particularly noteworthy to read, although you may need the script and possibly videos for the complete picture);

*https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKpFFD7aX3c (Architect scene);

*https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-cdwDnryY0 (Kefka scene, 0:25 start);

*https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOuk02e5q5s (Pay particular attention to Frieza’s overall reaction to this. Also, bear in mind, the Saiyans were particularly vile bloodthirsty brutes who enjoyed fighting and exterminating other races, so they had it coming);

*https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdJSUMZ_HtY (0:07-0:52, particularly important is the bit where Weil, the main villain, says “Dr. Weil: The desire for power. The joy of making everything work for you. You have no way of experiencing this without a human being. It’s the ultimate joy! No mere Reploid could ever understand!”, and Reploids are basically androids with free will);

Yeah, I’ve got issues that need resolving fast.

You sometimes hear people ask “What is the best form of government?”, but seldom hear “What is the perfect one?”, because you can’t have a perfect system that includes imperfect humans. Democracy has its flaws, just fewer ones than in a dictatorship, because there are more safety checks against the worst abuses of power. Dictatorship would actually be the perfect system if it had a perfectly benevolent dictator with absolute power. Heaven is the only perfect form of government.

Actually, I wouldn’t suggest you tell me to embrace democracy, because I actually have contempt for that institution, viewing it as little different from Communism, Socialism, Naziism, Fascism, Anarchism, what have you. Want to know what a true democracy entails? Look at South Somalia in the SEAL Team episode Collapse. Or heck, just read up on the French Revolution, the first democracy in the world after Athens. Far from preventing the worst abuses of power, democracy if anything PROMOTES the abuses of power by the people, where they can kill any one they want for a sick laugh.

But I do agree, barring Heaven, there IS no perfect form of government.

Then I’m sure you’ve heard this Mark Twain quote: “Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for dinner”. True democracy is impossible to achieve, therefore highly flawed. We instead have a representative democracy, in which many of the problems can be addressed and resolved, but not all.

Now that, I can agree with (though I personally prefer “Constitutional Republic” myself).
