Actually, I wouldn’t suggest you tell me to embrace democracy, because I actually have contempt for that institution, viewing it as little different from Communism, Socialism, Naziism, Fascism, Anarchism, what have you. Want to know what a true democracy entails? Look at South Somalia in the SEAL Team episode Collapse. Or heck, just read up on the French Revolution, the first democracy in the world after Athens. Far from preventing the worst abuses of power, democracy if anything PROMOTES the abuses of power by the people, where they can kill any one they want for a sick laugh.
But I do agree, barring Heaven, there IS no perfect form of government.
Then I’m sure you’ve heard this Mark Twain quote: “Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for dinner”. True democracy is impossible to achieve, therefore highly flawed. We instead have a representative democracy, in which many of the problems can be addressed and resolved, but not all.
