What is Taylor Swifts Reputation worth? Not the jacked-up prices shes charging for concert tickets.
Thats the verdict from ticked-off fans, who are balking at buying seats for the 28-year-old pop stars tour to promote her new Reputation album, citing stratospheric markups and greedy sales gimmicks.
I paid $150 for my ticket with amazing seats for the 1989 tour. Now for the same seats I have to pay about $500, Twitter user swiftieloves recently griped.
A look at Ticketmasters interactive seat charts confirms that Swifts schedule of 33 dates for the North American Reputation tour has yet to produce a single sellout, from its May 8 launch in Phoenix to its Oct. 6 finale in Arlington, Texas.
Thats despite seats being available to the general public since Swifts birthday on Dec. 13. By comparison, all the dates on Swifts 1989 tour in 2015 sold out within minutes, according to concertsandsports.com.

Yeah the good ole days. 45 years ago you could go see anyone, including the Rolling Stones, and the ticket prices were never more than $10 to $15 bucks, if that. Money was made in selling records more so than touring. You toured to sell records, not so much that formula any more given the record business today.
And that is practically the opposite of the ‘70’s. I saw a Rush documentary the other day mentioning that in the ‘70’s, they were losing money on concerts.
Dagnab kids these days, I swear.
p.s. Get off my lawn!
:)
Like, four corners!!
Probably my favorite Flintstones moment.
If you could get out of it for $100 you are a better concert going than I.
Parking is probably another $20, anything at a concession stand is going to set you back another $20.
It is more like $200 a head.
I imagine that was true in a number of cases. Then the market would only support a certain price range and that was from $5 to maybe $15. That was it. As I said in the other post the rock groups toured to sell records not the other way around.
The record labels supported the touring and picked up some or all the costs to sell the records. Now I doubt that is the case. They tour because that is where the money is.
We did do Loreena Mckennitt about a year ago. Pricey but worth it.
I think you are correct.
For $500 I want a little bit more than singing. Lol.
Now, now...it was called "festival seating" back then. The usually turned into "small" riots. But it was fun.
I'm sure that they didn't reach their status by phoning it in, originally.
OTOH, I saw the Stones 10-12 years ago. Best stadium show I've ever seen, and I'm not really a fan. Completely blew me away.
That was the name of the Album, not the year. She was not even born until 1989. lol
Yes, I know. People take things so literally. :-)
I remember standing in line just as the doors were about to open and the crush was on.I could pick my feet off the ground and be held up by the squeeze. Good times
I’ve seen some videos of her as of late, where she looks a little stoned.
I’ve been re-listening to some parts of Tusk over the holidays and wow.
But I guess we’re all on first when we’re 26-35.
Or clueless.
Um, actually it would have been 29 years ago, if it were that is....
