Politics is a bloodsport...but, it is also a people contact sport. When I learned back a week or so ago, that Judge Roy Moore was not out campaigning in public...I knew this political game for Moore was over or, at least on a dangling, dangerous lifeline.
One of the many major reasons that Democrat, Hillary Clinton lost her POTUS run to Donald J. Trump is that she literally stopped major campaign activity starting in August, 2016...a big, major mistake. Pressing the flesh of voters is an absolute must and, Doug Jones did exactly that many times over.
Roy Moore did exactly the same thing as Clinton...hid in the closet of protection, so he thought was safe & sound, and he would be OK. Not true!!!
POTUS, Donald J. Trump saw the flaws in the Moore campaign, back In September, 2017, when Moore defeated Luther Strange in a runoff election...stating that if Luther Strange had won the runoff the senate seat would be a safe one, ending with a big victory for Luther Strange in the December 12, election.
As much as Trump hates losing the Senate to a Democrat, I'll bet he is relieved that Roy Moore is now not a continuing problem for both him & the entire GOP Caucus.
Wednesday morning quarterbacking.
This was about way more than a bad candidate like Moore. With your “I told you so attitude” you obviously can’t see the forest through the trees.
I certainly respect his Christian principles...but he goes overboard...
And when he pulled out a gun at one of his rallies....that ended it for me....but still, the senate seat was important. We need that majority.
Also, 40% of the voters came out. I mean, when it is like that, then, whomever can get their base out will win. I guess, national elections are like that to an extent. I think some states though, have 60% plus showing up, not perfect either but better.
Trump owed Sessions because he was the first beltway Republican to support him. But now it seems like he is like the kenyan because everything Sessions touches turns to poop.
I agree with you, 100%. Look, I supported, Roy Moore, 100%, but... I really believed he was a flawed candidate. and...you are right, Trump and the Republican Caucus are breathing signs of relief this morning.
This is true. Gotta laugh at the Fox News headline this morning that Moore campaigned like Trump but only Trump can be Trump.
Trump was doing 4-6 rallies a day. They said Moore was out campaigning hard but nobody knew where he was, sending out spokespeople. Moore must have saw he was up 9% in the polls and pulled a Hillary.
I grew up in Alabama, and I’m ‘Facebook Friends’ with alot of people there, from high school.
Before the election, my liberal classmates were energized and doing get out the vote activities, etc...standard stuff.
Last night, after the result, my conservative classmates were posting ‘we dodged a bullet’ posts...their reasoning being that in a few years the seat would be up for grabs again, and they were willing to risk having a democrat there, in order to keep Moore out. IOW, they all took the Richard Shelby position.
I would have voted for Moore, just to keep the headcount in the senate safe, if for no other reason...but lets face it, the entire election he was on defense, defending himself against statements and stances he had made in the past, and of course against Gloria Alred. Not a recipe for success.
Why didn’t Trump make Giuliani the AG?
I am sorry, but we cannot kid ourselves....I worked my butt off for Judge Roy Moore....but he was a flawed candidate in many ways. I know the truth is not always what we want it to be....but, the truth is always the truth.
I don’t like to lose..Moore has been a political loser for a long time
Because the Mark Levin wing didn’t like Rudy because he wasn’t a team player in the Reagan admin and pushed for Sessions.
That said, when I see people arguing, cynically, that critics of Roy Moore should have purged their music and video/movie collections of all works featuring David Bowie, Chuck Berry, Led Zeppelin, the Who, R Kelly, and others, then we are in trouble.
Hope Moore doesn’t drag out this recount crap.
You’re wrong.
This race was “won” by theft. The democrats are not even queasy anymore about committing election fraud. There was no way that they were going to let Moore win, by hook or by crook, mostly crook.
Judge, Roy Moore should go out to pasture and ride his beautiful horse into retirement. His political career is over.
White men: 72% Moore
White women: 63% moore
Black men: 93% Jones
Black women: 98% jones
Whites: 67% Moore
Blacks 96% Jones
GOP turnout, 50% of 2016
Dem turnout, 92% of 2016
This seems to be the telling point.
How about he was a terrible candidate. His pride was his downfall.
Maybe he was just a lousy candidate.
