Yes, slow.
....Never worry Comcast has a service technician working on resolving the problem....

I always like the phone tree at Comcast. If you are experiencing service problems, please send an email. Well, golly gee whiz.... That’s why I am calling is because the internet is screwed up.

We cut our Comcast cable in June and went to Comcast Business for their internet to stream what we want to watch.

Comcast Business internet is a lot more reliable.

In our area, when college kids are home, using the internet to text, game and what ever, regular Comcast internet is about as reliable as CNN is re real news.

The only time we have problems with Comcast business internet seems to be when someone takes out a PG&E pole which also holds the Comcast internet lines.

Or about two months now our area has been invaded with countless AT&T trucks and hordes of linemen installing some new semi secret internet line. Sometimes, they “accidentally” took out Comcast and Comcast Business internet lines for a few hours.

That has slowed down as a few ladies living up and down the streets, go out and take videos of what is happening with the AT&T trucks and hordes of linemen and send the videos to Amazon Prime, Google pics or Drop box.

Comcast, actually any ISP, should always provide two DNS servers from two different IP networks. When the ISP’s primary DNS is unreachable, the secondary address should be consulted and respond.

However, occasionally, the problem is with the DNS configuration and impacts both servers. One possible longer term fix is to set your router to use the primary of one ISP and for the secondary, use the Primary of another ISP or DNS service.

Google provides a public DNS service at 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.8.4 you might want to configure your router’s secondary DNS to one of these addresses.

DNS issues lately are getting worse. The issue is all the advertising and popup crap that has to be resolved. Many websites are getting so bogged down with loading third-party content that they are really suffering.

yup, the northeast had at least 3 events this past week - most recent around 2 am fri -

first seemed to be system wide config issues, even using google DNS, brief -

last maybe just the comcast config.. but agree, might be third party overloads..

adblock plus helps, or a thinner browser like flashpeak slimjet...

As others here point out you can configure your router to point a different DNS and I highly recommend you do so. I use OpenDNS over Google’s DNS as I want to give Google as little tracking data or info as possible.

I have Comcast TV and they are about to get an earful from me. They have removed the Weatherscan channel 101. That was the best thing they had on there aside from FNC. There is the regular Weather Channel, but it is NOT the same. I’m so mad I could spit.

I have Verizon for the phone and internet — but kept Comcast just because of the weatherscan101.

Anyone else have this happen??

Sure glad that Comcast is not an option in our area. I know personally of some complaints about them;not just what I see on here. Sounds like the best thing that could happen to them would be if they simply disappeared.

You don’t have to use Comcast DNS servers. You can specify which DNS servers you want to use. I have avoided the Comcast DNS outage because I don’t use their servers.

Google has free ones:

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

If you don’t like Google, then there is a company called OpenDNS. Not only do they have free DNS, but also free family filtering of bad sites if you want it. But you can also use the DNS without any filtering

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
