Yes they are all vaccinated. I stay away from crowds and def places where children are. Tell you the truth Im pretty much home most of the time. But, it only takes that one.
Ive learned during my ordeal. The MMR is a live vaccine. Therefore the recipient sheds the virus for 10 days after vaccination. Since Im not vaccinated, I need to avoid babies/children who have recently been vaccinated.
If I remember right, the outbreak was prior to the college one. It was 2013/14 time frame. I do remember the college outbreak, and there was some speculation that it came from the same strain that hit western Scott county earlier.
uh-oh — Never had mumps, and I am in my 60’s.
I wish you the best!
Making its rounds with so far 12 students at 3 universities in DC.
Bring your kids around mine and Ill treat both them and you like the threat you are.

Then you better wrap your kids in bubble wrap and never let them out.
Most of the population doesn’t get booster shots. I sure haven’t since I was a kid.
You just sound silly.
I didnt need a mumps vaccination because I had it when I was 5. Its a disease thats nasty in kids and very dangerous to adults, especially men. Howd you like your testes to swell to 2 or 3 times normal size and then be sterile because of it?
Before the vaccine was developed Mumps Parties were a thing.
Anti-vaxers are silly and misguided but I respect their rights to choose. I do not acknowledge that they have a right to force the risk they choose onto others.
You dont want to vaccinate your kids thats fine by me. Just dont bring them around others. That means no public schools, etc.
L
Yeah , it is called the "Dormitory Disease" because it can spread among those who live in close proximity to each other.
It has been known to spread among school and professional sports teams as well
Interesting. Did not know that about Mumps. Looks like 3 Universities are involved so far.
Apparently many, if not all, of the effected kids were immunized in childhood. I was surprised so many became ill in spite of being vaccinated.
