The National Football League continues to struggle with furious fans as player protests enter their second month, with ratings for the NFLs flagship Sunday Night Football down a staggering 25% from this time last week.
According to Deadline Hollywood, television viewership for the troubled football association continued its free fall from previous weeks, with roughly one quarter fewer fans tuning in as the Detroit Lions faced off against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With that, as the league and broadcasters have been losing ratings traction and snared in political controversy this season, last nights Week 8 NFL game is down a hard 25% for SNF from last weeks gridiron battle. That Super Bowl LI re-match saw the New England Patriots blowout the Atlanta Falcons 23-7, writes Deadline.
The NFL has been struggling to regain its footing following weeks of players choosing to take a knee during the performance of the US national anthem. The ensuing controversy gained national attention when President Trump called for a total boycott of the NFL until officials and owners require players to stand during the Star-Spangled Banner.
As a result, ratings, ticket purchases, and merchandise sales have plummeted as football fans protest with their wallets.

Foot ball is gone. But, I can help you with the cat. Get another cat - right away. Mourning and a grieving period is for deceased spouses. And, usually that is too long anyway. But cats? Two weeks, max.
May ‘I recommend Siamese? I’m on my third. Now my best friend.
Trust me. You’ll see.
Can’t wait to see what happens when ESPN files for bankruptcy protection.
Haven’t watched a game in 3 weeks. It’s tough breaking a 40 year hold habit. Didn’t think of it all this past Sunday.
Binge watching college ball on Saturday and youtube highlights on Sunday helps.
Now that the withdraws have ceased I honestly hope the whole thing crashes and something new arises from the ashes.
I have a half Siamese, half Russian something-or-other. She is so very affectionate and loving and has the Siamese talk but she talks all night long. Wakes me up once or twice per night to get pets and attention or to get me to lift up the covers so she can crawl in. I wouldn't mind a full night's sleep sometime but I wouldn't trade her for the world.
What football game, was there a game Sunday evening?
I would think a Browns doormat would be a big seller since everyone is walking all over them.
NFL management knows that they made a huge mistake. I think that what the NFL management a doing is circling the wagons and playing dumb. To admit to a mistake this huge would begin a wholesale housecleaning of management and it would take the leftists another 30 years to burrow back in.
Why does our media sorta lie in their headline
It’s only 7 percent drop this year of Colin and thugworld
It hurts but it ain’t catastrophic
Young dumb and full of you know what America doesn’t care as much as we do
Eff the NFL!
its quite funny actually how these practically white blacks deny their heritage......
thanks!
Good point. Sunday night's WS game may have one of the best in modern history! After the WS is over, I go back to watching the NHL. Hockey players always stand for our national anthem, even though many of them are Canadian, Russian, Swedish, etc.
how about just say “we’re sorry”....and never do it again...and anyone who does will get a fine....
Abyssinian beats Siamese Hands down. Have had both. Siamese are great, but Abyssinian beats the pants off of them. Much more intelligent, MUCH quieter, as loyal as the best dog you ever had, and love to play fetch (Paper wads).
An irreversible self-inflicted death spiral that will end in civil violence, eventually...
I wonder how ratings compare to past years during the WS.
Turn on a radio, or get a little hobby? That suits me.
Look at the ethnic makeup of the pro football teams and that of the baseball teams. Enough said.
