Jerry Jones the lone critical voice of player protests at owner's meetings

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has gone to great lengths in recent weeks to ensure his voice was heard publicly about his displeasure over any NFL player not standing for the national anthem, and while he slipped out of last week's owner's meetings in New York without speaking to the media, league sources said he was quite vocal during Wednesday's session.

Jones was the only owner to rail against the handful of players who are still regularly kneeling, standing or staying in the locker room during the playing of the anthem, the sources said, pronouncing his disagreement with how the NFL is policing the matter before all 32 teams. On Tuesday, when a select group of owners and league officials met with players and NFLPA leadership, there were no dissenting voices or debate about how the ongoing protests were being handled. But that changed on the second day of the meetings, with Jones expressing his feelings several times in what sources describe as a "firm and forceful" manner, but restrained and not over the top.

Jones made it clear he believes the language in the league's game-day manual should be changed to stipulate punishments for any player who does not comply with standing for the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner." As one executive present in the meeting put it: "Jerry made it clear he wants that enforced and wants the NFL to compel all players to stand." However, Jones did not stipulate that he wanted the matter brought up for debate, there was no discussion of actually altering any NFL policies, no other owners supported Jones's stance during the meeting, and most of the time at these sessions was spent discussing how to move "from protest to progress," rather than focusing on the protests themselves.

However, when Jones expressed his concern about how the league office had handled the matter, asserting they should have been more proactive in trying to address the mounting protests dating back to when Colin Kaepernick first began sitting and kneeling last summer, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt took the floor and agreed with Jones, sources said. Hunt did not express any feelings about the protests themselves, but did concur on Jones' criticisms of the NFL headquarters in New York and their response to them.

Furthermore, Jones did not raise any concerns about the league's ongoing efforts to support players in their communities, both financially and otherwise, as all owners seem supportive of the ongoing dialogue between the NFL and NFLPA on matters of social awareness, injustice and racism.

Hunt and Jones are neighbors.

Once the loss of revenue starts, it does not turn around easily.

Granted, many tickets are season tickets, but if those seats are empty, that will reduce concession revenues.

A loss of viewers will enrage advertisers who will pull back on future ads and demand refunds on current ones.

Jones sees the handwriting on the wall, if the NFL cannot find a way to quell things both on and off the field. Hiding players in the locker rooms until after the anthem is not the answer. Neither is interlocking arms on the sidelines.

I guess the lesson for the owners is to NOT hire BLM thugs. That’s like hiring a vegan to work the meat counter.

He knelt.

He didn’t have his hand over his heart.

Nope. Sorry. He’s just worried about money.

No, no, no thanks Roger Goodell, & the owners. It’s all on them for allowing it in the first place. But hey they thought they were impervious to any backlash. Let them learn a very expensive lesson. I for one will never go back to supporting the NFL in any manner. For me it has been tainted beyond repair.

The NFL owners have calculated they can lose 20% of revenue and wait out Trump focusing on this issue.

Their other alternative is nuclear war with progressives. Since progressives have successfully infiltrated corporate America that won’t be happening.

That’s why I’m watching women’s college volleyball now.

I “heard from a friend” that ESPN3 streams European women’s volleyball these days. Might want to take a peak some time. ;)

Why are they so afraid of their players? No one has talked about what the white players think about all of this crap. I bet they are not too happy.

Jones may be the only owner smart enough to realize that the NFL is being perceived as anti-American.

Part of it is pure dumb luck. He owns a franchise in a state where old-time American values are still considered as something to which the majority of the populous still aspire. Unlike teams in Massachusetts, California or the like, where the average citizen thinks that Che is God and Trump is Lucifer, the 12th Imam and Hitler rolled into one.

News in Dallas was that Jerry World (ATT Stadium) is going to be used for the draft. They are all excited about how much money it’s going to bring etc. I can’t imagine anyone attending this event at this point.

Take a look at the white guy in my post #10, the one between players #92 and #41. He doesn’t look very happy at all. But in this day and age, his feelings don’t matter at all.

No he doesn’t. They are sick of these black players being so coddled. Funny how these black players will protect all kinds of crimes within their club and then have the gall to protest the police that protect them and their victims.

Simple. Political correctness. They don’t want to be called racist. Even the white players who joined in the kneeling are concerned that they will be labeled racist.

"Who cares." Jerry Jones bent joined arm in arms, clenched his fists in defiance and bent the knee in rebellious subjugation to ONLY BLM sjw and PC pink anti-Americans along with his entire team of Dallas Cowgirls. He, his team along with the entire nfl can rot!

The nfl, its "games", their "scores", the players are ALL totally irrelevant and utterly meaningless.

The nfl has become like the ancient gladiatorial games, the Circus Maximus; the famous gladiators and the charioteers of "renoun" from the ancient Romance Empire.

Their arenas are nothing but crumbling ruins and who can recall or name any of their "famous" gladiators or charioteers? The answer is no one! This is the fate that awaits the once "glorious" nfl:

Ozymandias

I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: `Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed. And on the pedestal these words appear --

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.'

Percy Bysshe Shelley

This is the future that awaits the nfl, and they destroyed it all with their own hands!

ALL THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT IS THE MONEY, THAT IS ALL! This and this alone is the motivating factor in Jerry Jones duplicitous act.

They literally strangled to death their fan base "goose that laid all of their billion dollar nfl solid gold eggs" with their own hands. The goose is permanently dead and they killed it! Now, all too late they want to put Humpty Dumpy back together again and resurrect the goose from the dead.

This is rich, the National Felon League chose to side and kneel with hate America, only blm, sjw, hate whitey, communist anarchists over America and their own nfl fan base and now their fan base has been totally alienated and the very monsters they willingly aligned themselves with have turned on them and are now eating them alive.

All too late the nfl has awoken to the reality that the entire league, has an INCURABLE CASE OF SELF INFLICTED FINANCIAL EBOLA and is hemorrhaging money out of every conceivable orafice to the tune of HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS A WEEK with no way out and no end in sight.

The once financially lucrative nfl is circling the toilet bowl into obscurity and is quickly becoming totally irrelevant and financially worthless.

We choose to STAND with Americans for America; we choose love of country, we choose patriotism, we choose to "Live Free or Die", rather than "huddle up", "bend the knee" and subjugate ourselves, our families, and our beloved nation to the black racist, socialist, sjw, PC tyranny and perverted ideology of the National Felon League.

They want us to compromise our patriotism, our love of country, flag and nation and symbolically join the NFL in show of rebellious "unity" but "What fellowship does light have with darkness, good with evil (and subjugation for the sake of 'unity')?"

The answer is a resounding NOTHING! We can have no "unity" with those who hate our nation, its flag, its values and with those who despise us.

The anti-American National Felon League has, to quote Admiral Yamato: "awoken a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve".

We are at war; the NFL started this cultural war against US, against America and they are attacking EVERYTHING WE STAND FOR, BELIEVE IN AND HOLD NEAR AND DEAR.

Like WWII, there can not be any, truce, or "compromise" for the sake of their false notion of "unity", no "cessation of hostilities" with the nfl and those who have made themselves our enemies with out a cause.

We Americans who love our county more than any game have now taken up the fight forced upon us by the nfl and like "the greatest generation" we too will settle for only one outcome: NOTHING LESS THAT THEIR TOTAL SURRENDER!
