Heated and cooled seats. Backup cameras. Panoramic glass roofs.
Not exactly what springs to mind when you think of a pickup. But that's what American truck buyers increasingly want, spending an average of $46,844 on a pickup, according to Kelley Blue Book. That's more than the starting price of luxury SUVs like the Mercedes GLC or the Lexus RX. In 2016, pickup trucks made up a little more than a third of all vehicles that sold for over $50,000.
At the State Fair of Texas this month, Ford Motor Co. is displaying its most expensive pickup yet: The F-Series Super Duty Limited, a luxury heavy-duty truck with a starting price of $80,835. It has custom two-tone leather seats, a heated steering wheel wrapped in hand-stitched leather and high-tech features like a 360-degree camera system that guides drivers when they're hitching up a trailer.
A fully-loaded F-450 the biggest version of the Super Duty will top out at $94,455. It's capable of towing an Air Force F-35 fighter plane, but it also has massaging seats.....

I’m a Christian who knows that immediately prior to WWI, the left killed THOUSANDS of priests, HUNDREDS of nuns, and a dozen bishops in Spain - and the Western democracies did nothing. Spain was saved by Italy, Germany, and Portugal - “fascists”.
True dat.
Light, powerful, decent cloth seats, good tires and five on the floor, $25k and they would sell them all day.
That’s what I bought, used of course, and auto transmission, drat.
Has to be related to Dicky Durbin. Has to be.
Sorry the wrong url was picked up.
The story can be seen by googling her name and Newsbusters.
I don’t call these things trucks, I call them princess carriages. I laugh every time I see one in the company parking lot. Nothing like a one ton dually to commute from your suburban home to your desk job.
The 45 years after the war vindicated all who felt Stalin was the worst threat they faced; western Europe was spared that by the “fascists”. Today I watch the same leftist forces that threatened Europe in the 1920s and 1930s tear down my country; I’m “woke”...
Slow Newsday at ABC....
Agreed add vent windows and offer 4x4 as an option . They wouldn’t be able to keep them in stock.
Or are truck manufacturers trying to sell the American public on more options in the hope of making more money off fewer sales...
Most of the new trucks are up so high that it is impractical to load anything in the bed and i'm sure the owners wife lets him know how much she hates his vehicle every time she struggles to climb in.
Automotive companies make the majority of their profits on trucks and the highest profits come from trucks with lots of bling.
A stick will outlast an automatic but its so much easier to drive an automatic with a cup of coffee in your hand.
I purposely picked a 1500 ram for MY comfort. Leg room, comfortable seats. Would have gotten a ram charger or bronco but none of the current SUVs out there have what Im looking for. Most current SUVs are bloated-tick looking AWD estrogen vehicles .
Expedition comes closest but are no longer full F150 frame vehicles. (I wont buy GM or foreign).
Some of the electronic amenities are a bit much to negotiate while driving. But I enjoy the music system and the back up camera is 1 thing I would miss the most.
I rarely use the capped 5 bed. The back of the crew cab has enough room for most of my needs....but its there if I need it. My grown boys borrow it for hauling stuff in the bed.
Again I bought it as a comfortable 4x4 suv not necessarily a truck. I get around 22 mpg on the highway thanks to the multiple displacement hemi. Around town though its butt-awful at around 12.
Would buy it again if I had to. Nice vehicle.
I sold Ford for 18 months and 46k is the average.
I sold customers who wanted certain features sand colors in their truck and would wait 90 days for it to arrive from the factory.
I would trade dealers trucks we had to obtain a truck the customer wanted. Some trucks would come from 500 to as ffar as 1,000 miles away.
Ford is the #1 sell8ng truck 40 years in a row and people will spend $60,000 all day long.
My truck is stock hight 4x4. Im 61 but the 56 wife had a problem. So I got retractable running boards for her. Which some of my more diminutive hunting buddies appreciate too. As Im getting on in age, the luxury of it is not unwanted
Not me. I want hand-cranked windows and a manual transmission.
