Is this where the idea of the ‘living document’ Constitution came into being?

But isn’t it funny how those that push this philosophy also vehemently assert civil rights that they like, including things that aren’t even written in the USC?

The Constitution is Liberty’s foundation in America. Without it, we sink into the “progressive” pits of godless socialist hell.

When you come right down to it, capitalism is nothing more than the rule of law while socialism is nothing more than the rule of snowflake whim.

They will have literally constructed a whole new reality for which all of us can live.

Really?

Because that has been tried many times.

100% failures.

Why does it and will it constantly fail?

Most humans have a well developed common sense.

Around here we call it a "BS meter."

I believe that hard core proglib comrats suffer from an undeveloped or under developed "BS meter," better known as common sense.

There is NOTHING about "progressive liberalism" that brings about anything good in the long term.

So instead of "common sense" the proglib comrats exist on catch phrased propaganda that rarely exceeds a few sentences.

Never willing to reflect on the actual results of "progressive liberalism" they constantly move on to the next mantra-of-the-day.

This is the very core of the drive-by-media.

And the proglib comrats consume buckets of it every day from the "mainstream" media outlets.

However, the fact that most humans have a well developed common sense allows the "silent majority" to overcome the catch phrased propaganda being blasted out to the public.

In fact, they are sick of it.

Result?

President Donald Trump, 306 Electoral College votes.

Whether conservatives like it or not, the foundations of the traditional system are being tested both by the strain of new social and economic condition and by a flood of suspicion and criticism. If it is going to survive, not only must its adaptability to new exigencies be proved, but also its power to survive the severest possible inquisition. Public opinion can no longer be hypnotized and scared into accepting the traditional constitutionalism as the final word in politics.

This Herbert Croly is equivocating between the Constitution and interpretation of Natural Law (system of objective ethics that apply to everyone). The Constitution is an agreement. Like a contract. And it has an Amendment process that makes changing what it says difficult but possible when there is good enough reason. Certainly if one does not like some of the things that are currently agreed to and wish to criticize it, one is free to do so. And if there are enough Americans that are convinced, then the Amendment process can be used. I myself have some things I wish were amended to it. So does Mark Levinne. It is not only "progressives" that would like to do so.

But conservatives don't cheat like "progressives" do. If we do not have the support for our ideas that we need to use the Amendment process, we at least respect that we can't have everything our way, recognizing that the price of having a Constitution that protects the general interests of us all is that it will have some aspects we don't like, and yet others do. Not putting ourselves above these others, we go along with it until such a time we might be able to get the agreement legitimately amended.

On the other hand "progressives" are so selfish, so shallow, so arrogant and self absorbed that, like Croly here, insist that their criticisms alone trump the agreement itself. So they cheat. They disenfranchise millions with the gavel of judicial activism. They try to get people not with their program ostracized and shunned. Fired from their jobs. Intimidated by personal violence. They have burned crosses in masks and hung innocent men from trees. They have burned American flags in masks and smashed windows with hammers and people's skulls with bike locks. The preach loudly before the November 2016 election day how we must all respect the result or Democracy is over...and then erupt into violence and hate rather than respect the election result they did not expect.

They are spoiled children who instead of wanting to earn their way in a free society, want to control that society for their own selfish ends. And to do so, they want to deny God so they can sit in His seat of moral judgement over all the rest of us.

Follow the law, USConstitution. Amend it if you are able, to change the limitations and abilities of USGovernment.

Return to USConstitution, or perish, USA.

...like it or not, the foundations of the traditional system are being tested both by the strain of new social and economic condition...

I've seen enough old westerns on TV to know that once a society becomes wealthy enough, a gang of bandits will try to move in and take over the fruits of the society's labors for themselves.

That's what we're seeing with these extreme leftists who claim that the Constitution must change to meet today's reality. Today's extremists don't want to live within the structure of the Constitution. They want to take the gains that made this country great for themselves, and cast off the civil structures that enabled them.

In short, they want to steal the country out from under those who made it.

Without looking, can anybody tell me why the delegates to the Constitutional Convention made the Constitution’s Section 8 of Article I and the 10th Amendment?

Is it an uniform rule of naturalization or UnNaturalization.

Constitution gives Congress power to keep USA the same natural kind.

Is Congress following this rule?

The Constitution is the charter of this country.
No Constitution, no country. We would have to create a new charter.

Even in the early 1900s progressives were sick and tired of constitutionalism because they were sick and tired of not being able to keep power once they get elected to something. They believe power is rightfully theirs and that their accession to power should end the whole concept of popular choice and political change by elections.
