Vanity: Update Puerto Rico (Text from my Mom)
Self ^ | 9/28/17 | Self

UPDATE - PUERTO RICO: No ATMs, no Cash, no Credit Cards working, No Power (75% of the Island), No Running Water (60% of the Island), No Gasoline, No Diesel. The US presence and aid is here, and there's a lot of personnel and US agencies involved, but unable to move from the ports & piers. Three (3) gasoline trucks were stolen yesterday.

When President Trump arrives in Puerto Rico on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd, he needs to bring with him around 10,000 soldiers with him. This image would be seared in people's minds and it would be akin to Teddy Roosevelt's arrival in Cuba on a horse backed up by thousands of fighters. GO TRUMP!

Although I must say, when it comes to Prepping, this scene always comes to mind...

The Shelter (The Twilight Zone)

Opening narration

"What you are about to watch is a nightmare. It is not meant to be prophetic, it need not happen, it's the fervent and urgent prayer of all men of good will that it never shall happen. But in this place, in this moment, it does happen. This is the Twilight Zone."

Plot

It is a typical evening in a typical suburban community. At the residence of physician Bill Stockton, he enjoys a birthday party being thrown for him by his wife Grace and their son Paul. Also at the party are Jerry Harlowe, Bill's brother-in-law; Frank Henderson and Marty Weiss, Bill and Jerry's former roommates; and the wives and children of Jerry, Frank, and Marty. Bill is well known and liked by this gathering; he attended the State University with Marty, Frank, and Jerry. Moreover, Bill has repeatedly administered to the health and well-being of each one of said guests and/or delivered their children. Everyone is especially friendly and jovial, even when mention is made of Bill's late-night work on a fallout shelter which he has built in his basement. Suddenly, a Civil Defense (CONELRAD) announcement overheard by young Paul is made that unidentified objects have been detected heading for the United States. In these times, everybody knows what that means: nuclear attack.

As panic ensues, the doctor locks himself and his family into his shelter. The same gathering of friends becomes hysterical and now wants to occupy the shelter. All of the previous cordiality is now replaced with soaring desperation; pent-up hostility, searing racism, and other suppressed emotions boil to the surface. Stockton offers his basement to the guests, but the shelter itself has sufficient air, provisions, and space for only three people (the Stocktons themselves). The once-friendly neighbors do not accept this; they break down the shelter door with an improvised battering ram. Just then, a final Civil Defense broadcast announces that the objects have been identified as harmless satellites and that no danger is present. The neighbors apologize for their behavior; yet Stockton wonders if they have destroyed each other without a bomb.

False alarm, but what if it did happen?

There are already 10,000 American relief workers or military in Puerto Rico. Our dishonest media wants people to believe that we are doing nothing.

No help is coming and the response is not there. At one point he claimed the airport wasn’t open and should been when eye witnesses were saying that Marine helos were cycling in supplies. He was bitching that the power poles were still in the streets.

The first time I was in Puerto Rico (San Juan) it was to catch a cruise ship. On the bus from the airport to the ship, I was amazed to see that EVERYONE had steel bars on all their windows and doors. EVERY HOUSE!

Does this say anything about the people of Puerto Rico (San Juan)? It does to me. It means that they live in FEAR of the large criminal element in their society.

I’m sorry for the devastation wrought on their country, but all the Hurricane relief in the world will not solve their bigger problems.

Puerto Rico for statehood? HELL NO!

“The River Runs Thru It’
has lost all integrity. It is suspected this might be found in the vault of Al Capone.

A waste of flesh, covered or bare. Not as yet completely transformed as he does have a reflection in the mirror.

President Trump waives the Jones Act.

Won’t make any difference, but maybe it will get the Libs to STFU.

God Bless Your Mom!

I read elsewhere that supplies ARE available, but they can’t find any Haitian volunteers to help? That seems insane to me!

Don’cha know? Preppers are big meanies who hoard and won’t share with every Tom, Dick and Xavier who only had a half eaten stale eggroll in his fridge with the power went out.

I know a guy with family there and he makes it sound like Prepper fiction. People are so used to someone taking care of them that they are frozen in place waiting for help. Meanwhile, the officials can’t get the supplies out of the port because everyone is sitting around waiting for someone to come help them.

If there is a pole blocking the road, people stand around waiting for someone to come and move the pole. It’s an island in the Caribbean and they weren’t hurricane hardened.

I first became aware of Jerry Rivers around 1979 and immediately saw him as a self serving shyster.

“Wow it is tough in Puerto Rico. This is a good lesson why people should prepare for disasters.”

Exactly.

What baffles me: when I say people should prepare for such predictable & regular disasters (or MOVE), and others berate me for being insensitive.

Seriously, people. This is an existential issue: prepare to live, or prepare to die.
