I would love to be a mentor/comforter for someone that has come back from battle and is struggling. Anyone know of any programs I could plug myself into to help?
Awful web to be tangled in. A great mentor of mine once told me suicide is a permanent solution to an often temporary problem. He was so right.
Sadly, a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
Don’t know.
I’m watching a family get torn apart emotionally and financially by advanced Alzheimer’s and severe crippling pain. The ill person is miserable, hates existence, and is not herself. Her loving husband will probably have to lose his house and life savings because of the financial strain.
I’ve always been against suicide, but I’m going to swallow a bullet if I’m headed in that direction.
Hillary thinks it is, when it’s applied to any one of her many enemies...
When I was still a teenager I did that. A vowed to myself that I would never get divorced. I said to myself that the marriage vow is forever so once the words are said that is final. If I could no longer get along with my wife we would agree to move across the country from each other but divorce is never an option. We have been married for 43 years and now, neither of us have anyone left to run home to.
I said the same thing to myself about suicide. I know to this moment that I could never do that for any reason. It does not even make sense. The worst pain or agony in life is just one more obstacle to overcome. Although Jesus is always there, I will not ask for anything out of the ordinary because we all have the exact same breath of life to savor and enjoy for better or for worse.
Overgeneralization.
Yes, don’t commit suicide if there is hope and a possible solution.
Suicide is permanent and some problems are also permanent.
A person has the right to take their own life.
They can't hear you.
My son-in-law’s family suffered two suicides of family members. Their pain is immense and will be with them the rest of their lives. They are in our prayers daily.
If you need an ending, suicide could be the answer:
“THE END”

are you aware that ecstasy/mollie/mmda has been approved by the fda as a ptsd therapy in the last few weeks. They called it a game changer. not that am a big proponent of taking drugs but hell if it works. anything to pull them from the brink.
It’s a complex topic. Some messages and treatments seem to be effective with some people, but counter-productive with others.
Sadly, I’d say our understanding of human psychology is very poor — basically at the same point as medical knowledge in the middle ages, when clumsy or misguided treatments were about as likely to be harmful as helpful.
Also sadly, I fear that political correctness will retard progress in psychology.
Q: What is the term for killing yourself?
A: Well; apparently it is not “suicide”
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
I always thought it was ironic — or sick — that Ted Bundy used to work the suicide hotline in Washington state. What a messed up psyche that guy had.
