Email news this week brought this Betty Crocker recipe for Ravioli Casserole that looks very good for an easy, work-night meal made partly from prepared foods:
Trying to ‘zing up’ my husband’s favorite roast pork loin, I found several recipes for pork that include a fruit chutney that doesn’t look too pungent:

I don’t shake it - but I have noticed that over the last 20 years, milk stays good a lot longer in the fridge than it used to do.
When I was a kid, 1950’s-60’s, we got our milk from a little local dairy that delivered it to us every day - there was a little silver ‘milk box’ outside our front door for the delivery man to leave the milk and other dairy in.
Once in a while, the milk would taste very onion-y or garlick-y; my grandmother would say that the cows had gotten into the grass...

I just got into it to be honest. I truly think there are better recipes now for it. Plus, I like the idea that I can throw it in after breakfast, do all my afternoon stuff and have dinner ready. I tried some recipes ten years ago and put the crock pot down in the basement. I seem to use it a lot more now. :)
Ooohhhh... kielbasa and ham. That sounds fabulous. Definitely going to try your recipe!
I know that crock pots have changed a lot over the years, and recipes from the early days of crockpotting don’t work the same now; but I haven’t taken time to really study it.

I’ll bet lots of other people do this, but , fastI thaw out the pirogies, then fry them crisp. I. serve with a good tomato sauce I would serve over pasta. Easy, fast and filling.

Sealtest delivered our milk, buttermilk, cream, and butter. They provided the galvanized steel box for their deliveries to the back porch.
Recall those odd grey boards glued to the insides? Cement asbestos board insulation.
My husband fries them from frozen, in butter - LOTS of butter. I like dipping them in Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing.
In 1999 we did a pig roast for a family reunion, picked up many weird sounding sauces, like Devil’s Spit. It was fun.

Salmon Vera Cruz
METHOD S/P 4-6 oz salmon filets on oiled baker.
Ladle 1/3 cup Vera Cruz Sauce atop filets; bake 325 deg 10-12 min.
SERVE w/ rest sauce atop filets.
VERA CRUZ SAUCE combine 16 oz jar Salsa, tb Capers, 1/4 c sliced
green olives w/ pimento, tsp chp Mexican Oregano Leaves option.
Oooh. I think the ‘Famous Dave’s’ barbecue chain has a ‘Devil’s Spit’. I love getting a blue-cheese/bacon-topped burger there, with ‘spit’ on top ;-)

Yes; I remember the box. But I think the place we got from was Harvey Dairy...VERY local to where we lived. They had a truck with green logos/printing; and I just looked-up, and you can buy their really old bottles at auction:

I recall that there were other dairy delivery services but our neighbohood had just Sealtest. They might have agreed to separate exclusive zones. My job as a lad was to take out the trash and empty milk bottles after dinner and bring in the morning delivery without skimming a bit of cream from the paper lid.

You weren’t far from us, if I recall - just inside the DC line? We were just outside, and a lot of the surrounding MD area was still farmland.
