New York City’s left-wing mayor Bill de Blasio has confirmed he will consider a proposal to remove a statue of the explorer Christopher Columbus and has ordered a review of all the city’s statues and monuments following violent clashes between white nationalists and Antifa in Charlottesville last weekend.

Ohmygosh. Doesn’t anyone, including these hacks interviewed as authorities, study history any more? When one is evaluating the accomplishments (positive and negative) it has to be done in the context of their environment.
Mulberry Street is two blocks of restaurants and Ferraras in a sea of Chinese characters on every storefront. In years past a candidate for mayor had to travel to Rome, Dublin, and Tel Aviv. Now even Tel Aviv is off the list. So electorally there will be little price for Red Whilhelm to pay. Though interestingly there is a Spanish Cristobal Colon celebration in old East Harlem, Spanish Harlem to the Drifters and Ben E King.
