OK!
I am getting ready to drive the 200 miles or so south towards Salem/Eugene Oregon.
I figured it's also a good time to test my survival skills, somewhat lightly.
So far I have packed: three cans of Chef Boyardee, three cans of sardines, two cans of Dinty moore stew. Forks and knives and spoons as well. A garbage bag for the empty cans. My three cameras, well, two cell phones and an older Vivitar camera.
I have an extra gallon of gas in my trunk, plus oil and ATF.
Anything else? Any hints/tips?
bugspray
I thought about that when I was putting cans in the pack. So I selected only cans with the ring on top, I mean the cans you can just pop open.
Good point though. If the SHTF, lots of folks wouldn’t notice...
I picked up the rental car this morning for the trip from Denver to Wyoming. Leaving at 5AM with my 2 Sons.
Should I be more
Interested in this eclipse than I am?
DeLorme gazetteer of the area if you can get it, paper map if you can’t. Just in case your tech goes and navigating is an issue. :-)

It is delicious and healthful.
And has no shelf-life.

My personal estimate is zero percent chance of rain.
Actually, I’m more worried about smoke from the wildfires in Oregon.
Over our place, too. I had posted earlier that someone from another state called the town’s city office. They couldn’t get a room ‘cause all are full. They asked if they could rent/reserve a picnic table to sleep on and under. Crazy, huh?
:)
Music playlist: dark side of the moon, here comes the sun, total eclipse of the heart, black moon creeping
As I said in another thread; binoculars.
No. You should be interested in what is happening in the heavenlies on September 23rd. See Rev. 12.
Stay away from central Oregon...smoke and traffic...Salem is going to be fine...we are out driving, eating...lighter than normal traffic...everyone headed East!! Well be watching from our roof.
40 years ago I lived in Klamath Falls...
:)
I looked yesterday to see if I could get a room farther north to shorten my drive.... Hahahahahahahahahaha! Two rooms available and they’re around $450 for one night at a non-luxury hotel.
Thanks!
I decided no guns. It’s too much risk to take a gun.
Sunscreen is a good idea, I am somewhat sensitive to the sun, but hey, I can just wait in the car FOR THE TWO MINUTES I’M WILLING TO DRIVE FOUR HOURS TO GET TO!
Kinda stupid, don’t ya think!
Well, it is a once in a lifetime event. Truly. So it’s worth it.
I’m saving a large Quaker Oats box for this purpose.
Don’t forget your 8 inch telescope with eclipse lens and the telescope power supply connector to your car to drive the computer controlled electric motor keeping the sun in view the entire time!
