If Trump is the Republican id, this exchange between Laura Ingraham and Krauthammer is a dialogue between the ego and superego. Ingraham, a nationalist, is all about the agenda. Was Trump’s presser today a good thing? Well, she says, he made some solid points — but it wasn’t useful. It didn’t advance the ball on policy. Krauthammer, a conservative, isn’t interested in that right now. Was it moral, he asks? Was it right?
I wonder how many variations of this exchange are playing out within the administration tonight. Watch this quickie clip of Chuck Todd speculating that John Kelly’s going to end up having to talk people out of quitting over today’s spectacle. Um, I doubt it. Since when do Republicans balk at anything Trump does?

Somehow the back and forth between Ingraham and Krauthammer ends with them debating whether Trump’s statement yesterday, in which he denounced white nationalists after hedging on Saturday, reflects what’s actually in his heart or not. If you don’t believe the reporting on that, just watch the guy talk. When Trump is reading from a script, it’s abundantly clear. He speaks more slowly and his sentences are conspicuously more measured than when he’s rat-a-tat riffing on his thoughts, as he obviously was today. What happened the past few days isn’t complicated. He softballed his comments about the alt-right on Saturday, was cajoled by his aides into saying something more emphatic about them yesterday, then resented the fact that he’d been pressured into clarifying his remarks and decided to double down on the “both sides” point today off the cuff. Yesterday’s statement almost amounted to an apology for Saturday’s comments, and you know how Trump feels about apologies. Today he un-apologized.
Did Jesus say when someone throws acid in your face you should turn the other cheek? I guess I missed that one. I read my Bible cover to cover every year for years but I guess I just missed that.

Likely a very significant majority of white Americans have no family history in the US prior to 1865, and weren’t even on this continent when there was slavery in the US.
It was denied, they took the town to court, the town lost and to issue the permit. But no permit was asked for or granted for the “antifa” protestors; they just showed up.
If Trump is going to end Antifa’s violence he is going to have to have them greeted by the 82nd every time the try to claim “these are our streets”. If Trump won’t end it, we will have to but it has to be stopped.
And of course there is not one white person alive today who participated in slavery.

I believe Antifa was granted permits in two other parks to counter protest, and Antifa turned it down.

I was alive back then. Back then there were very few KKK left. It was a freak show. Nobody cared. A handful of holocaust survivors were rightfully upset but for 99% of America it was a costume party of freaks.
If this America was that America we wouldn’t be having this discussion. Antifa would have been crushed and BLM would have been stomped out of existence in days. They are tolerated now because the DNC has created them just like Hitler created the SA and toward the same end. They are supported and nourished now for the same reasons. And it is critical that we stop them now for the same reasons. I don’t understand why so few freezers see this. Confederate Monuments have nothing to do with it. It is a distraction like flag burning and fag weddings. It is an excuse to be in the streets. It is an exercise in power. They are showing the world that they represent the government of the US, they represent the interests of the powerful and they can do whatever they please with impunity.

Thank you. I just don’t see how folks can not see BLM and Antifa for the very real threat they are. Ignoring them is not going to make them go away. Another freeper posted to me tonight he didn’t think politicians cared what happened in the streets. I forgive him, he is a baby freeper (2 years). He will learn. For two years we have seen BLM in the streets engaged in violence and getting policemen killed yet they continue with impunity. For a year Antifa has been beating Trump supporters in the streets with impunity. So far Eric Clinton is the only arrest I am aware of.
The street activism created by and nourished by the DNC is not a threat that will go away if ignored. It has to be shut down and if our government won’t do it we have to. What they do emboldens the DNC resistance in COngress and frightens the RINOs. The Rats understand this. I don’t see why so many of us do not.
Actually the Skokie march never happened. The ACLU won the case for the Nazi wannabes but by then the Nazis had lost interest. Their most lasting impact is the Blues Brothers saying “I hate Illinois Nazis!”

No, the Skokie march DID happen. I was a kid back then but I remember it pretty well. Life magazine did a big pictorial presentation of it.
