“White Americans must forever be judged for slavery”
Likely a very significant majority of white Americans have no family history in the US prior to 1865, and weren’t even on this continent when there was slavery in the US.
And of course there is not one white person alive today who participated in slavery.
Right, but mother’s mother was the daughter of a Confederate captain who’s family did own slaves in a Georgia logging plantation. From the recollections of my great aunts, and letters from the period that were preserved, I believe my ancestors were kind people.
Regardless of my ancestry, I have no more guilt than Americans whose ancestors arrived more recently. The whole thing is stupid - trying to judge past people by today’s standards - trying to punish people for the sins of their fathers.
