A white nationalist was fired from his job after Twitter users began naming and shaming alt-right supporters involved in yesterday's deadly Charlottesville rally.

I wouldn't have thought of Nazism as a religion.
I don't think the argument that you can do this will pass muster in a court that is applying the law consistently.
I disagree. I think it can and will.
A yes, the soft racism of lower expectations that the left like to peddle. It's the cause of 99% of the problem in black communities across this great nation.
Except it wasn’t a nazi rally. The alt right has no history of violence, and even though they stupidly focus on race, their goals are not supremacy.
I mention the thug because you called it true. The thug bit is not about sensitivity but defamation. As you are doing by calling someone a nazi when you really have no back up for that.
Can’t say I blame you though. Most folks seem to be making the mistake that pride and nationalism = hate and supremacy, just like the antifa folks want you think.
I find it important to distinguish that the rally was organized by the alt right and it is fair to point out that there were kkk and nazi groups that showed up.
So you can’t really know what camp that kid is in based on the pic, unless you want to believe the statement made by the left wing loon posting it as part of his thought police witch hunt.
In this modern world when anybody can be publicly associated with a company you work for you’re never truly off the clock. If you become embroiled in a kerfuffle and the company’s names gets dragged in you’ll be out.
And, no, I am not imposing my views on others. I am saying that as an employer, I choose who to associate with just as we also each do with regards to who we hold as friends.
Personally, FR should do the same, follow Trump and Sessions and company's lead and say unequivical no to any support or hate promoted directly or indirectly via the Nazi, Islamic, or Confederate flags. These are indefensible and are not patriotic, not conservative. They are unAmerican.
"Creed" can mean any set of strongly held beliefs. While we're on the topic of "religion" since when did the government have to require what you believed to be a "religion"? Can an atheist be fired because he has none?
I disagree. I think it can and will.
In a Liberal court that cares not for consistency of law or principle, you are probably right. In a court which applies established principles across the board, you are probably wrong.
In a California court, there is a good chance the man would lose such a lawsuit.
“My concern is we are seeing the rise of the Thought Police...”
It is a legitimate concern. I wish I knew the answer. Maybe employers need to recognize that very few boycotts based on the political views of an employee will work, and to tell social media types to shut the hell up? Maybe simply posting on the company website:
“Our employees are free to disagree with us and we feel free to disagree with them - but we don’t fire people for disagreeing with us!”
There’s an important grey area when it comes to “at will” terminations. While there’s a list of things you still can’t fire someone for, you can fire someone just because you decided to fire them. HR and company lawyers are generally very strong to make sure managers in “at will” areas know to never give a reason for the termination, because any reason you give could be spun into one of the forbidden reasons. But if you stick to “their services were no longer required” in all documentation you’re safe.
Years ago a gun group to which I belonged staged a protest against gun control. Our style was to dress in Continental Soldier outfits and we carried Revolutionary War era flags, such as the Betsy Ross flag, the Pine Tree flag, and the "don't tread on me flag."
Some guy shows up at our protest with a Confederate flag, and i'll be d@mned if the lying media photographs this guy (who was not a member of our group) while ignoring all the rest of us and our flags, and then makes the assertion that we were just a bunch of racists and so we should be condemned.
I think that photographer and the editor of that paper needed to have a beat down put on them for their deliberate lying. The lesson I learned that day is that it doesn't matter what is the truth, the people who control the airwaves or print media will portray you as a racist if you are going against the Liberal agenda.
We didn't know this guy, but he is the one they selected to highlight because it suited their lying propaganda to do so.
And who we will serve at lunch counters.
White people need to report to work only if they have deep red scars on their back from self flagellating with a mace ball. White people = permanent shame at existing.
Imagine if this had happened after the Tea Party rallies.
But who works for me, of course I care and I will not employ anyone that jeopardizes my company. And be clear that I would never hire/fire based on race, gender, age, etc. Not relevant. But actions--like posting hate, flying flags of hate, participating in hate protests, committing murder--of course I will fire them. And not lose a moment of sleep.
The sign doesn’t make sense. They believe in free voluntary association by anyone? Then why can’t their employee show up at a political rally of his choice?
Tolerance doesn’t mean accepting those whom you LIKE. That takes no tolerance. Tolerance means wishing freedom for those you DON’T like.
He went to a planned, permitted rally. I’m sure he’d still have his job if it had been a gay pride parade.
Are you talking about flying the flag in the workplace? Then I’d agree you have that right, if in their cubicle they have a Muslim, KKK, black lives matter type of flag, to fire them.
You cannot fire someone due to their flag flying at their home or for taking part in a rally outside of work.
What if you had an employee who was very religious yet that person’s religion was deemed hostile by society? Fire or keep?
Those Right guys should wear Masks like the Commies do.
It is a short distance from that to imposing ideological purity on everyone as well. We are devolving in the direction of group think and approved morality, and I see this as the end of freedom of speech, and with the loss of that, what makes the United States functional will cease.
We will become another lock step fascist state in which opinions contrary to the "official" established morality will be verboten.
Once again, YOU don’t decide what is “un-American.” Just because the left has co-opted the Confederate flag as a symbol of “hate” due to the (democrat) KKK adopting it as their symbol doesn’t mean it stands for “hate.” The left is re-writing history and you’ve bought in to their lies.
Do what you want with your business but don’t tell the rest of us what is un-American. You are imposing your views on others out of ignorance.
And let me ask you this. What symbol should be banned for the northern slaveholders, founding fathers included? How about the flag of The United States of America?! Because THAT is where this is leading.
The second Paragraph makes the first Paragraph laughable.
