A New Zealand woman has died on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten after the blast from a powerful jet engine knocked her to the ground.
The incident happened at the famous Princess Juliana International Airport, which is just metres from the sea.
Beachgoers can walk up to the airport fence as planes take off.

No harm. I remember being a passenger on an L-1011 flight in the aircraft’s waning days thinking there were more modern options but I enjoyed the history.
Been there a few times. I’ve gone past that part of the road but never stood there like so many do. even being inside a cab when a jets coming in is cringe worthy.
This is not the girl that was killed. It is the same airport and place. It no doubt happened just like this. Amazingly stupid.
Wow, that girl in the red top took a direct head hit on that concrete wall. Wouldn’t be surprising if she had serious brain injury,
The A380 is the double-decker jumbo.
Yes. I haven’t seen one in person yet. I did see the a350 that Qatar flies.
That was filmed on the Boeing flight line in Everett’s Paine Field. It was a training film for those that drive on the flight line to be aware of jet blasts; yes, that truck did get blown across the ramp. I bet there’s a YouTube video on it.
No margin for error there, the first error is flying into that place.
Inclined to think the following is the worst “airport” after experiencing several take offs and landings here:

Holy cow.
It’s in the post after mine, in case you didn’t already look at that video.
Most of the ‘jet’ blast is actually air being blown backwards by a fan.
My son honeymooned there a couple of years ago. The planes coming in were fascinating and scary at the same time.
Sounds like your list is, least danger to most dangerous!
Done all except the Spark and Redhead. Although, I am married to an Italian.
Smiling, over here.
When I was in Germany, we had Apaches hovering over the tree line as our Infantry platoon was in the prone down below. Besides A-10s and M-1s on field exercises this was one of the coolest experiences I had in the Army. Anyway, the rotor wash from one of the helicopters above blew a limb down and knocked a soldier out even with his Kevlar on. I will never forget it. He was taken to Battalion Aid and was fine with just a headache.
I’ve seen the video, thanks.
Since this is a website mostly about political outrage, I thought I needed to find the outrage:
Sint Maarten? IT’S CALLED SAINT MARTIN HERE IN THE STATES, YOU UN-AMERICAN COMMMIE PINKO!!!
