The end of the Supreme Court term looms, and with it the prospect the terrifying prospect of a retirement. Specifically, the retirement of Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, who will turn 81 next month and is the longest-serving current justice, named to the high court almost 30 years ago.
So if Kennedy is inclined to retire, it is hard to begrudge him that choice. But his departure would be terrible for the court and terrible for the country. It could not come at a worse time. Any court vacancy these days, under a president of either party, triggers a battle between liberal and conservative forces. Kennedys retirement would unleash nomination Armageddon, given the feral political environment and the pivotal role he plays on the closely divided court.

Ginsburg, like the other three, will say and do anything to get her way. They don’t have a liberal view of the Constitution- they don’t care about it.
Kennedy only does what he can ‘liberally’ justify from the Constitution. I disagree, but he is intellectually honest.
Who really cares what the islam supporting, blm losers and DiDu nothings have to say.
The left wants to destroy America. Let’s destroy them first.
The Dims were so arrogant and certain about Hillary winning, they neglected to knock off corpse lady when they still had the chance.
She wanted to hang on to insure that her replacement was picked by “the first woman president”.
She messed up. It is called hubris. It must burn her no end.
Uh, Depends...
I hope we can kiss Roe vs. Wade bye-bye!
I suggest that Kennedy replace Mueller. Since the love love him so much.
How can anyone take seriously a legal analyst who bases her argument on objectively false facts?
Right. To appease the enraged pussy hats marching in the streets, they resisted Gorsuch. Now we have smooth sailing.
Well, then he’ll just have to be laminated.
When he errs there are 4 anti-constitution ‘progressives’ to make it a majority opinion.
From him it’s an error, for them it’s a goal.
Reagan had a liberal senate, and had to guess who he could get past them; the Bork fiasco shows his difficulty. Bush was just a God-damned statist airhead. Nice guy; patriot; but DEFINATELY the Forrest Gump of American politics. Except Gump wasn’t so arrogantly scornful of the opinions of conservatives.
That’s awesome to know, maybe she dreams about it when she’s sleeping during court and SOTU speeches. Unimportant things like that.
The fake journalist who scribbled this tripe. Oh how I hope Ginsburg and Breyer retire in the next month...it'll be sooo sweet to see the libs freak out when that happens. :)
It’s interesting to look back now to November, and realize that at least three of these judges probably had plans to retire in 2017 under President Clinton. Now? They have to hope their health stays well enough to make it to 2022....maybe even 2026.
“Kennedy wrote the lead opinion upholding gay marriage . . .”
Justice Kennedy is the Father of American Sodomy.
Best thing that can happen to our country.
Only better is if Ginsburg goes too.
Yeah, we really battled them.
The author needs to grow up.
Matt Staver from Liberty Counsel would be a great replacement.
