My sister in laws spews vile words and deepseated anger whenever Trump comes up. She hates KellyAnne Conway with a deep passion. She is a person who rarely uses curse words but lets them drop with a wreched contorted face of anger when speaking about anyone in the Trump administration.
I do not engage her in “debate”. I am not young nor naive. I have far too much experience with the brainwashed to ever consider there would be any fruit to bare from such a thing.
These people have been told that they have enemies. They have been programmed to believe that they are an existential threat to their lives and their well-being. Their resentment has been well crafted.

They are what we call the Main Stream Media. They foment hatred and division. They know their craft and they work their tradecraft on the subconscious minds of insecure people like any cult would. They are well trained (most of the time) never to actually overtly promote violence, but they straddle the line at times.

I left Facebook and everyone - good and bad - no longer talk to me.
If I make the effort to call out and say “Hi” that’s about all there is to it.
And the only people who pick up when I call ? My vet friends.
I’ve paid for people’s funerals, weddings, bills. Helped out when they needed it in every way. On facebook, they mostly told me directly how my comments (Political and not) brightened their day and they couldn’t imagine life without me.
These were people who I saw almost daily too. And they were my political allies. Not even politically motivated.
Put simply, I’ve learned that if you’re not on social media, you are a modern hermit.
But I think I’m going to call my vet friends now though. Thanks for reminding me !
The loss or “cancellation” of millions of friendships...or if they were not friendships...acquaintances...is I think one of the most dismal residues of the 0bama era. It’s happened to every single one of us. No, they may not have been “best friends”...in truth, we have only 1 or 2 of them for 10 acquaintances. But cooperation and company has been thrown out for righteous indignation over an externally-imposed set of very questionable and in some cases phenomenally destructive mores.
I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.

I think I see the funda-”mental” problem.
After the election, he blocked every family member on Facebook. Several of us even sent, "Ok, election's over, but we're family, let's move on and forget about it" emails. But no response. On memorial day, the family has a tradition of putting flowers on departed relatives graves, he has shown up to ever one for over 30 years. But not this year, he didn't show. I guess he really did disown us over Trump....
