Notre Dame, IN - A group of graduating students walked out during Vice President Mike Pence's commencement speech at the University of Notre Dame on Sunday.
Maybe the administration there isn't as far to the left as a lot of people think.
You can’t overcome years of commie indoctrination in one speech.
Big deal.
This entire story was managed by the media - The Indianapolis Star breathlessly beat the drum about how HUNDREDS were going to walk out on Pence and it was going to be a huge statement against Pence. They beat the drums so loudly that the rest of the media in Indiana picked up on it and blindly reported the same story FROM THE SAME PROTEST FACEBOOK GROUP.
In the end they reported “dozens” and “at least 50” which means it was probably more like 20.
Of course when people complained about Obama speaking they were evil people who didn’t love this country.
Not so long ago, there were good, non-political statement on caps and gowns. That’s especially when one completed a long, difficult Ph.D. thesis, or one competed a degree despite financial or health hardships.
“Whew, I made it!” “Hi, Mom!” etc. There’s nothing wrong with any of that. In contrast, “RESIST” is not only irrelevant and obnoxious, but banal as well.
It’s my hope that there are going to be a lot more “sane” university leaderships in 8 years, and even more in 16 years.
They don’t need diplomas then.
They will get their diplomas, it is just a meaningless ceremony to allow people to show their pride.
I did not attend either of the ceremonies I was entitled to and have the diplomas nevertheless.
Can’t wait until they get a job in the real world and are surrounded by Trump supporters. And their bosses are Trump supporters.
Go ahead and walk out and see what happens?
I am watching my neighbor’s house so they can fly in from Orange County (CA) to watch their son graduate today. Guarantee he was not among those walking out.
Agree. Notre Dame needs a simple rule to graduating students that if they disrupt commencement exercises, including any walkouts, they forfeit their degree. This will do it.
I turn against Notre Dame when they invited Obama to speak and had brave ND students who quietly protested at the graduation (on account of Obama’s abortion voting record) arrested for trespassing. President of ND’s justification at the time for inviting Obama was that it was “out of respect for the Office of the Presidency”. Yet, Notre Dame refused to invite (pro-life) President Donald Trump to speak there because...um...Trump is...um...vulgar...? Mike Pence — who is a PRINCE, and I admire, don't get me wrong — is, technically, an apostate for having abandoned Catholicism...yet, Pence was invited to speak at Notre Dame. The point is that Notre Dame doesn't really stand for anything...not pro-life values...not respect for the Office of the Presidency...not loyalty to Catholicism...just for prestige and money.
I saw video of the walkout. It was more than 20. My guess would be around 75.
There should be about 2k seniors graduating from ND this year.
Future employers take note ... if you say something to any of these prospective employees that hurts their feelings, they’ll walk out of your meetings.
Would they walk out for linda sarsour, an America hater? This is no longer a Catholic college. It is a disgrace.
Imagine students doing this to HUSSEIN...imagine the outrage that would follow. Those students would have their diplomas ripped out of their hands and they’d have to start college all over again.
I’m sure they’ll remember it fondly and for the rest of their lives. /s
VP pence is not Catholic. He was raised Catholic but is now an evangelical Christian. Good man either way.
“They think theyre displaying principle and bravery,”
I think they’re displaying the fact that they have NO CLASS.
