At the end of the day, most men just want a woman who’s nice. “Nice,” to a man, means being soft, gentle and kind. It means asking your husband how his day was and really listening. A man who’s nice? Not exactly. Most women do want a man who’s kind, but that’s not the same as nice. Ask any guy you know, and he’ll likely give you example after example of women they know who said they wanted a nice guy but in reality wanted a bad boy. That’s because just as most men are attracted to femininity, or softness, most women are attracted to masculinity. And masculinity is hard. Gruff. Take charge. So, where are you on the nice scale? If you’re not an inherently nice person, believe me I get it. I think I’m pretty nice, but that isn’t the first word one would think of to describe me. For some people, hunting and fishing are not all that pleasurable.
Women don't think like men, and killing and gutting an animal is not at the top of most women's bucket list.
I mean, give me the meat already taken care of and I'll make a great meal out of it, but I prefer it processed beforehand thank you.

metmom you can’t just take the comment in isolation. It was my response to another female Freeper’s hostile comment to men going to Thailand or Russia for brides. These women are not hung up about a man’s looks and they will treat him well. As a bonus there a plenty of thin, young and attractive women to choose from. It’s a buyer’s market for men.
But point taken about the men looking worse as the years go on. Fortunately women are also easily pleased with money, status and a man’s character in addition to a man’s good looks or lack thereof. So +1 for the older balding guys with a beer belly!
And you weren’t there either, hon. My point was that she went into the marriage ‘knowing she didn’t love him.’ That was a CHOICE - not a fault of fate. Love isn’t fallen into or out of, we CHOOSE to love. From the get go, she chose not to love him. Surely he felt that.
And if he didn’t love her, it was because he CHOSE not to. Both of them, in choosing not to love were disobeying God.
Did I know all this 30 years ago? No. Did she? Probably not. Just trying to make it clear to anyone reading that Christians, above all people, should always CHOOSE to love. Irreconcilable differences should never be a reason why a Christian divorces, yet the way I read it, she was excusing it. Just because we commit a wrong, does not mean we should stand in defense of it. We should acknowledge and confess it. I didn’t sense she was doing that.
I did not condemn her, nor did I judge her. I simply tried to point out that she shouldn’t blame her ex for a divorce that her choices clearly played a role in.

And is it wrong or pious for me to suggest she pray for her ex? ‘Love your enemies’ ring a bell? Quite honestly, she sounds bitter because of his continued bitterness. A little prayer might do them both good.

Russian women treat men well? What planet does this come from? They marry American men because they think they’re saps; they do it for citizenship and because they think American men are loaded.
Asian women are thought to be sweet and docile because they are small and fragile in appearance. More deception (although not their fault - it’s guy’s stupidity).
I’ve been reading The Lonely Guy threads here since I joined in 2001. It never changes.
When I was young I traveled a lot. American women were universally hated the world over. I can’t imagine things have changed much.

Rightly or wrongly American women have a reputation world wide as < insert term for female dog here >.
Undoubtedly, wrongly.
If all their exposure is to spoiled, rich women, then they have a skewed view of American women.
They see the way they treat their husbands/boyfriends.
Men all want *hot* women and seem to think THEY, especially of all men, deserve one.
Funny how they don’t seem to think that women would like to like to look at what they wake up to in the morning as well.
But you know what?
Long and short of it is that age is NOBODY’S friend.
Past a certain age, attractive is the best qualifier you could apply to either sex.
