Marijuana does not cure cancer (or the common cold)
American Thinker ^ | 05/03/2017 | Don Fisher Jr.

When it comes to spreading unfounded rumors, urban legends, and outright lies, the Internet is definitely the “Ignorance Superhighway.”  Obvious fallacies are allowed to breed and spread exponentially with just a click of a mouse.  As such, it’s fertile ground for the pro-marijuana crowd to disseminate their lies to gullible people who can’t seem to run a simple Google search in order to verify a claim.

Recently, I read a ridiculous meme that claimed 1) marijuana cured cancer, and 2) the government was keeping it from us.  Of course, it had several “likes” and affirming comments about the alleged curative powers of a drug that medical science hasn’t been able to find.  However; this is what passes for informed debate now; agreeing with a dubious claim and then disagreeing with all dissenting opinions.

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, or, NORML, and the rest of the pro-pot stoners and liberals have wanted this for decades.  At first, they claimed they were for “decriminalization” and wailed and moaned about the mythical people who were thrown in prison to rot simply for possessing a seed of pot that was found by over-zealous police officers.  Lawyer and author Ann Coulter researched this claim and, not surprisingly, found that exactly zero people have ever been sent to prison just for possession of marijuana seeds or a single joint. In fact, the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BLS) figure for possession of marijuana alone (not just a seed or similar small amount) is around 0.7 percent

No no no your boy must suffer to sate the drug warriors and their confiscatory lust

One day people will look back and go “y’all gave 25-life sentences for pot smugglers or growers “

Or they take your family farm cause you had a few pot plants

I’ve been in this war since the early 70s when people did get 20 years for a joint

See Ken Kesey for starters who won on appeal

This is about freedom from the heavy hand of govt

It’s all about the asset seizures now they could care less about pot

They want to enrich their fiefdoms

It was a big point pushed back when MJ/MMJ was in the process of being legalized in Colorado.

I grew up and live in CO.

Having now observed the social dysfunction that seems to accompany it I think the cost/benefit equation comes out against recreational MJ use.

But - like alcohol, it’s probably here to stay.

It’s unfortunate that, as with the products associated with the Coors family - the abusers won’t weed themselves out of the population without damaging others.

You could make the exact same argument for alcohol. Freedom shouldn’t be sacrificed to assuage the fears of parental inadequacy.

The clear version isn’t as effective at sterilizing citizens and lowering their IQ.

It’s extremely difficult to get an anti pot person to differentiate between industrial hemp and smoking weed. That was one of the primary reasons smoking weed was originally targeted, to crush the competition of industrial hemp with synthetic fibers and petroleum based hydrocarbon products with a guilt by association meme.

Ironically, IMO, widespread industrial hemp growing would seriously crimp smoking weed growth in areas near it by cross pollination.

Steve McQueen tried to cure his cancer with some south of the border with coffee poured up his ass or something like that.

I would rather just smoke and get high if that is my only alternative provided normal medicinal procedures are failing.

Ha. Got it. My friend is spending thousands on high grade pot and makes the oil himself. He claims regular doctors don’t necessarily tell you that with standard treatment for prostate cancer you’re going to possibly wear diapers and have other problems too.

2) the government was keeping it from us

True stoner logic they think even the stuff grown on 3 mile island won’t harm you.

Smoking weed does not cure cancer. It does get rid of nausea and headaches.

However cavinoid oil which is a highly concentrated extract of marijuana is curing cancer everyday. Especially lung cancer. Of course the medical community which is joined at the hip with big pharma will never ad it it. Big pharma is making way too much money on chemo treatments which have terrible side effects and for the most part don’t work.

Most people don’t have a clue that most medicines and tinctures manufactured and sold by big name companies prior to 1937 contained cannabis. It was very effective.

For instance if you are taking celebrex for moderate to severe arthritis pain you could just take organic tumeric everyday like I do and Get off celebrex. But your doctor will never tell you that. Because tumeric can’t be patented and then sold for a gazillion dollars.

If you get a UTI or any other bacterial infection you could just take colloidal silver but again it can’t be patented and sold for a gazillion dollars.

Same deal with cannabis/cavenoid oil.

The reason hemp is forbidden to be grown in the US is thanks to the timber industry. If we grew hemp which thrives in the worst soil and is a quick turn around renewable it would put the pulp wood industry on its knees. And the cotton industry. The timber lobby keeps hemp out.

I’m sorry to hear about your friend. I read once several years ago that the average life expectancy a man can expect after prostrate cancer is 5 years whether it’s cured or not. It was something to that effect. Maybe because it is more of disease that affects older men that keeps it that low.

My father had it and had radiation treatment in 1985, at the age of 66, which worked for him. Unfortunately he passed away in 1990 so he hit right at the 5 year mark.

Now my oldest brother just went through it as well and he is 72.

Almost make sense.

Kinda funny, though, how the MJ industry started whining how hemp pollen could dilute their strains — AFTER the legalization goal was achieved and they didn’t need “hemp” to prop up their bidness model anymore.

There’s one born every minute!

Duuuudes! Where’s the Republic?

Bad enough, so no reason to add a bigger problem to it.

My mom used to minister in prisons.
Pretty much all the killers and other violent people loved their pot.

But by your logic there IS a reason to SUBTRACT the existing problem by banning alcohol; do you support that or are you a hypocrite?
