Regardless, the two quickest-accelerating production cars aren't exotic European supercars, but a muscle car and an electric luxury sedan developed right here in the United States that are at least more attainable than a limited-edition Ferrari, Bugatti, or Koenigsegg. That's pretty cool.
It will take an awful lot of traction tricks to get that to happen. 850+hp and weight loss can do a lot.
Easy rule of thumb: 1G = 20 mph per second.
That means that 0-60 in 2 seconds is 1.5G. Or, put another way, the Dodge Demon could accelerate straight up (if it could stick to a vertical road).
I remember riding in a friend’s SS396 around 1968, which had been tricked out. Don’t know how powerful but it was a daily driver.
Once when driving along at around 20 mph, he floored it and I was surprised that it literally threw me back against the seat. I don’t think I could have overcome the G force and moved.
It might be attainable, but it is still a one-trick gimick.
You can find out for $85,000.
It’s a special mod not a stock car. The interior was gutted and they left off the rollout time which basically means that the number is fake.
Are the 60’s-70’s drag race wars back? It is great to see the old “Big 3” fighting it out on the drag strip. Grand Spaulding Dodge vs Tasca Ford vs Don Yenko would be a wonderful thing. But we can’t bring it back. The original big block wars will never be replicated.
Does it have to do a shift before 60?
What’s the warranty on the u-joints and the differential?
Co-worker and I have a running argument about this. He thinks it is legit.
The car is listed at 4,000 lbs curb weight. I might be proven wrong, but you will have to show me that from a standing start a 4,000 lb car can accelerate from 0-60 in 2.3 seconds without tires less than 30 inches wide.
I don’t give a damn one way or the other.
Any car can hit 0-60 in under 3 seconds if you throw it off a cliff
This of what Luke and Bo Duke could have done with that car.
Sheriff Rosco Coltrane would have no chance...
I am soon retiring, was thinking of getting a Tesla at $60,000. But I am also a closet fan of this Dodge, but at $80,000 it is above my budget.
My wife yelled at me when I showed her the pic, because she considers the Challenger as a “ghetto car” driven by “stupid people, trash”.
My dream was crushed - not only after being yelled at, but when I saw the $80,000 dollar price tag. $20,000 too much for me.
oh well... one day this car will resell for $300,000 plus in about 15 to 20 years from now.
But I would be dead by then, likely. I am 61 but in bad health. Probably be dead by 81. Actually, that would be a reason to BUY this car because I would have my toy.
But my wife is in charge of these things. Not me.
Life goes on. Until you are dead.
