compound found in the protective slime of an Indian frog blows apart flu viruses and might become a powerful new drug to treat influenza, researchers reported Tuesday.
The compound, a small structure called a peptide, cured mice of killer doses of human flu, the research team reported in the journal Immunity. hey hope to develop it and other compounds like it into antiviral drugs to treat people.
"This peptide kills the viruses. It kind of blows them up," Joshy Jacob of Emory University, who led the study team, told NBC News.
And it seems harmless to healthy tissue. "There's no collateral damage," he said.
The team found the peptide in mucus taken from the skin of a frog species called Hydrophylax bahuvistara, found only recently in India.

crap- now i gotta start licking frogs again?
A lot of Asian skin creams are made from snail slime. I’ve tried them, and they are actually nice on the skin. But the texture is exactly as you’d expect ;-)
Influenza is a very unpredictable beast. It mutates quite often, and the smallest shift can give it radically new traits. Like immunity to previously reliable antibodies.
Highly effective and a lot easier to contemplate is:900 units of vitamin D3 per pound of body weight- easiest with the 5000-unit itty bitty gelcaps from WalMart. I did that 15 years ago two days into a really nasty flu that everyone else was carrying for two to three weeks. I took them before I went to bed. When I rose 7 hours later the flu was gone. Daughter repeated that scene two years later and wife a couple of weeks after that. To prevent flu and colds, get a load of sunshine on your skin daily during the summer and take 5 or 10 thousands of D3 daily. Of those in my family and the widows at church that I started on this, all have been free of flu and colds and NO shots, even when half the city is sick.
Fresh orange juice mixed with a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
So 180,000 units for 200lbs of body weight??
vitamin C again with a kicker!!
will try it.
Actually that would be 33 5000unit gelcaps (165ooo units). I took 30 of them. I swallowed them quite easily in one gulp. They are tiny and ideally shaped. The rule is to do that then repeat 24 hours later if the flu persists. Out of half a dozen people I have known to do this, none have felt a need for the second round.
A friend of mine in Viet Nam used to get some sort of virus half a dozen times a year. It would seem that with the year round high and bright sun that should not happen but VN women cover up to hide their skin from the sun because their mothers have told them from infancy,” Don’t let the sun touch your skin or you will turn black and never get a husband!” I sent her a year’s worth at 20k a day, double what I take, and she took them. She has had no virus since. When I was back there after she married, I had a discussion with her new husband about it and he allowed as how if she got dark of skin and stayed healthy because of it then it would be fine with him. During the year her emails showed that a since-puberty pretty severe case of manic depressions also went away. I did some Inet research and find that some doctors and a whole passel of alternative medicine types aver that sunshine (vitamin D) is the only actually effective medicine for depression, the prescribed chemicals merely putting a lead weight on the psyche. My daughter who was diagnosed bi-polar is quite relieved of that malady since she started daily 10k D3. Same result for a waitress in a Waffle House I lectured about it.
“Eat a live toad the first thing every morning and nothing worse will happen to you all day long!”
Thanks for your response!
meh it’s more fun to lick a frog
