OK.
Sorry for the vanity.
I am just checking however, recently UA by way of the police, pulled (physically) a paying passenger out of a flight recently. He was actually dragged off the plane.
The plane was over-booked. The airline did some sort of lottery, and the guy lost.
Now I get that things happen, and I get that the flight was overbooked (not a good thing, from my view) but I think I just heard a report that this was partly due to a UA employee reservation, being kept.
On a nationwide, live news program.
So the guy was pulled out of the plane, so a free/discount employee could fly?
Is that true?
It’s only a 4 hour drive from Chicago to Louisville. I’ve driven it before.
Why didn’t the four employees just drive down to Louisville? As it is the flight itself is over an hour long.
Now instead, United has millions of dollars of bad publicity for being too cheap to rent a car.
Lol. :D
That’s very good.
Thanks.
Not overbooked. Didn’t have their crap together and had no logistical way to get their 4 employees (4 hrs by car or other carrier..... riiiiiiight?) to another airport for a flight noonish tomorrow. Absolute F’n Morons. It is incompetence at an epic level multiplied by stupidity and topped off with a sprinkle of jack boots. UAL needs the alien anal probe hard core and are about to get it. This guy is walking away with 5 mil plus.
Chicago PD says =>

...a Chicago Police news affairs officer not the aviation cops initially released a statement to an unnamed media outlet saying that a 69-year-old male Asian airline passenger became irate aboard the flight and that aviation officers attempted to carry the individual off the flight when he fell.

I’m guessing that statement was released before the video went viral.
The official excuse is that they overbooked it.
(By four, magically, doncha know.)
United, fly the friendly skies..Or we beat you.
They screwed the pooch. By law they are required to offer up to $1350 domestic and $5000 international. They offered $800. Then they assaulted and battered the guy. They are blued screwed and tattooed. 5 mil is the lowest settlement IMHO that will come out of this.
UA screwed up big time....instead of stopping the madness...they added to it.
Supervision up and down the line dropped the
ball....it quickly got out of hand, and now
UA will pay,.....good!
What matters here is the fact that they put these people on the plane. United’s fault. So, did they look for a solution? Between American Delta, and United, there are about 20 or more flights per day to Louisville. I can drive it in 5 hours.
And, if it meant physically dragging a paying passenger off the plane, someone should have put their 4 man flight crew needed at SDF in a van (if that was the issue) and they would have beat that flight to SDF, delayed as it was for a cost of maybe $1000.
They are morons. No other explanation.
You are correct. Take your pick:
fool, idiot, ass, blockhead, dunce, dolt, ignoramus, imbecile, cretin, dullard, simpleton, clod; informal: nitwit, halfwit, dope, ninny, nincompoop, chump, dimwit, dingbat, dipstick, goober, coot, goon, dumbo, dummy, ditz, dumdum, fathead, numbskull, numbnuts, dunderhead, thickhead, airhead, butthead, flake, lamer, lamebrain, zombie, nerd, peabrain, birdbrain, scissorbill, jughead, mouth-breather, jerk, donkey, twit, goat, dork, twerp, hoser, schmuck, bozo, boob, turkey, schlep, chowderhead, dumbhead, goofball, goof, goofus, galoot, lummox, knuckle-dragger, klutz, putz, schlemiel, sap, meatball, dumb cluck, mook
Lost a lot of good people with the merger and the drastic cost cutting sh*thead Smisek implemented. He also destroyed what morale there was. I had meetings with him and he wouldn’t even acknowledge my existence when I said “good morning” to him a few times (I gave up). That’s pretty telling about the kind of “leader” he was. I have nothing but contempt for that man. The current CEO (Oscar) is a good guy but has inherited a huge mess that will take a while to clean up.
Seems also very late to have to take this action. Why wasn't this dealt with preboarding? They should not have boarded with out this resolved as I would seem very difficult once everyone is seated to get someone to uproot. Preboarding the passengers are still in a state of flux. So easier to entice them off with larger vouchers etc. Really horrendous management all around. I guess it's obvious but hope the critical heads roll on this one and not people that really had no impact either way on the outcome or policies that led to this.
Well said!!!
Racist Chicago scum.
Rahm's fault!
Amen!!!
And if true he is doctor with patients waiting, they have screwed the pooch big time
Wow so much misinformation in this thread.
They do not have to offer $1350 for voluntary bumps, that is the max domestic compensation for involuntary bumps. I have never seen them offer more than $800 for voluntary bumps.
United did not beat anyone. That’s airport police.
There is NO chance of a lawsuit award against united.
Requirements and comps for involuntary bumps are established by government regulation, and confirmed in the united contract for ticket purchases.
They try to minimize them by asking for volunteers first, and usually they don’t have to get people out of a seat after they board.
All the airline had to do was go up in price to pay someone to take a later flight say $5000 & someone would’ve volunteered
If true, that's a shame.
But the doc should go for it nonetheless. Bleed them out!
