It is hard to overestimate the damage the Freedom Caucus has done to the fledgling presidency of Donald Trump, and to the country. By blocking the American Health Care Act of 2017, the conservative group has guaranteed that Americans will struggle forward under the burden of Obamacare. In the next few months insurers will announce their premium hikes for the coming year; chances are, given the continuing withdrawal of major companies from the marketplaces and the ongoing failure of the bill to attract enough young and healthy participants, the new rates will not be pretty. Last year premiums went up 25%; its likely the increases will be higher this year.
Republicans will own those higher rates. Their failure to repeal the financial underpinnings of Obamacare and start replacing that failing program with an approach that encourages competition and that embodies numerous other common sense reforms will mean that families hit by ever-higher costs will blame the GOP. Voters elected Donald Trump and a GOP Congress to get this job done the number one promise of every Republican campaign since 2010...

Does Rand Paul’s plan include a 30% penalty to be paid to the insurance companies for not enrolling the previous year, when one buys a plan?
Does Rand Paul’s plan contain a bailout for the insurance companies?

Your comments seem to postulate that President Trump’s support for “government care” is new. That is not the case. Candidate Trump has a long history of supporting the government take over of the health care.
Pointing that fact out by posting video’s of Candidate Trump espousing that very view is what got me banned for a week.

So the Freedom Caucus just saved America by mortality wounding the Trump presidency?

Now the tax cuts will be significantly smaller? Win? Yeah right.
This should have died in the senate or in conference not in the Republican house if it was to die. The agenda is in doubt

No, the only thing in doubt are FReepers willing to accept Paul Ryan’s brand of Socialized Medicine!
For the millionth time...you are aware Ryan’s plan contained NO REPEAL...RIGHT? You actually believed there would’ve been phases 2 and 3?
So, please tell us the parts of Obamacare that you really enjoy?

Interesting that you are supporting socialized medicine. I didn’t know you were such an advocate.

Agreed, the current bill was bad.
So where’s the good repeal bill?
You’ll never see it.
The Freedom Caucus wants O-care to stay.
If they wanted it repealed, why haven’t they presented a repeal bill? They’ve only had 7 years to prepare one that would work.

I just changed jobs and was able to sign up for a Blue Cross Blue Shield policy for about $1,000 / month for a family policy. $600 individual deductible. 90% covered after deductible met.
Just putting that out encase you wanted to look into it.

How does the left plan to fix Obamacare, more taxes? Single payer?
Yep; Sen Graham is on CNN urging President to work with Dems to "fix" Obamacare. I expect a creative Single Payer option for states that choose it (states' rights). If, and when, they roll out that proposal to President Trump with nonstop MSM free advertising most states will have majority of Social Security/Medicare recipients who want their piece of the pie. Socialized healthcare will be a rising tide going into the 2018 midterms, all because 239 House Republicans could not a cut a deal. Even Planned Parenthood was being cut ! That deal is gone now. I expect a Grand Bargain before, or after, the midterms depending on polling and/or electoral votes. The freedom caucus defeated President Trump; only conservative long knives could harm him. Abject defeat was seized from the mouth of opportunity. The next deal will be less conservative and more painful for all of us.

Oh BS,
The Freedom Caucus just saved America from another socialist disaster.
Absolutely 100% correct!
BINGO! The media is just trying to demoralize us. They always have they always will. See before RyanCare all the news was “ObamaCare great the mean Republicans are going to repeal it on and on” Then the stupid GOPe proposed an ObamaCareLite aka RyanCare and the conservatives managed to avoid that disaster. Now the press is at it again. Oh the Republicans failed. The sky is falling we are all gonna die!!!”
Lets force the Republicans to grow a spine and lets stop letting the press dictate our course of action!

All Congress needs to do is repeal obamacare and let restore the original health care system that obamacare democrats in Congress passed and it is they and the rinos who are fools
There is zero percent of that happening but if you choose to live in a dream world so be it.
To: SaxxonWoods
So, you’re blaming the FC for Paul Ryan? I cannot believe the dumb shits on this thread that are upset RYANCARE (socialized medicine) which contained NO REPEAL went down! I never dreamed of a day FReepers would be longing for socialized medicine...and that’s exactly what Ryancare was!

Oh please, there were moderates that were going to vote against this, too, so it isn't just the FC. The moderates (including the leadership) are just using this as an excuse to attack the FC.

You aren’t reading my comments very well. I stipulated that the bill was bad and should have gone down.
The Freedom Caucus has done NOTHING to repeal O-care is my point and they used Ryan’s crappy bill as cover.
I’ll believe in the Freedom Caucus when they do something to real O-care.

I cannot believe how many freepers do not understand what Ryan was trying to do. He was trying to repeal as much of Obamacare as he could without requiring 60 votes in the Senate. Repealing Obamacare in its entirety requires 60 votes in the Senate. There is no change that is going to happen unless Republicans pickup 8 senators in the next election. The Ryan bill only required 51 votes.
