Beauty is a gift that ought to come with a caveat: a warning sign stating that while being gorgeous might sound like fun, when it comes to relationships, oh boy, are you in for a rough time. I should know. You can call me immodest, vain even, for admitting so freely that in my youth I was good looking. But then, I believe that had I not been so beautiful, I might still be married to the man I once loved. The fatal flaw in our relationship was I blossomed to become so much better looking than he was. My poor ex couldn’t cope with living in my shadow and constantly felt jealous and insecure.

There are still good women scattered about the States. However, they tend to go off the market early. Why? BECAUSE THEY’RE GOOD PEOPLE, THAT’S WHY!
Unfortunately for me and the rest of us, however, those are already married or are about to be, and good for them! The benefits of marrying well cannot be overstated.
Personally, what trips me up the most is that I was cursed by having been born under the star of the handyman and I am attracted to damaged or broken things needing repair. Not good.
You know what they say, right? "You can't fix stupid."
Yeah, well...not for lack of trying (Strike one), which has taught me something else.
They define insanity as "doing the same things over and over again while expecting a different result." Strike two.
Which is also stupid. Strike three.
Oh well, something else they say is "no matter where you go, there you are." End of the inning.
Which I guess means that I'm really screwed now at this age, but not in a good way...sigh..."too soon old, too late smart." Game over?
But, I'm also debt and disease free and still not dead, so no worries. Life is good!

My uncle is a triple dipper...he has pensions from the military, the private sector, and social security. He has an annual income of close to 6 figures. He is (currently) unmarried.
He has been married four times. The last one drained his savings accounts before divorcing him. She was Mormon and had lapsed in her “tithes” and basically had to buy her way back into their good graces...with his money.
My uncle is still a softy. His housekeeper got behind on her car payments, so he got her out of the mess and co-signed a loan for a new car. Repeat 3 times! Her current car payment is almost $800 and he is paying it!
The girl that grooms his cat gave him a sob story about an abusive boyfriend so he helped her get her own apartment by co-signing the lease. He is now paying for her apartment as she “isn’t making as much as she used to.”
I have developed a very jaded opinion of women and money. So many are not much better than whores. Very sad.
A soft heart can be a soft target for all sorts of predatory creatures and spirits.

Then again, looking for a beer bottle opener wouldn't be a concern.
I see clearly at least one rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, dermal fillers around the cheek apple. Plus mental illness, and no doubt has to be told all the time she is wonderful.
But what I don’t get, is men will fall for this and put a ring on her finger. Over and over.
If I were a man I would run fast and far.
My dad was the head of his fraternity at a large midwestern campus. He decided that he was going to bag the most beautiful woman in campus and he did, a 6ft statuesque blonde stunner who was the head of her sorority and could have been mistaken for Grace Kelly’s sister.
His family was rich so they married, only to discover that they had nothing in common and had a nasty divorce.
I suppose I can’t complain because otherwise I wouldn’t be here.
Life's a funny thing. Expectations or not, sometimes it can take a few tries for a person to learn enough to finally get it right.
And life is tricky, too. The grass may look greener on the other side, but it still needs to be mowed.
The greener the grass, the greater the maintenance. It's always something...
