Monopoly is making changes: The boot has been booted, the wheelbarrow has been wheeled out, and the thimble got the thumbs down in the latest version of the board game.
In their place this fall will be a Tyrannosaurus rex, a penguin and a rubber ducky.

PETA will be enraged!................
That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
Oh, man, now everybody’s going to want to be the T-Rex!
What, no snowflake?
blasphemy
Use a diaper pin, pink if you’re female and blue if you’re a male.
Who knows if it’s on the list of rejected tokens. The article only lists four of those: winking emoji, large “brick” cellphone from the 80s, bunny slippers[!] and a hashtag.
What about both male and female, or neither, or alternating, or whatever?
I played the board game Risk a few months back, and Hasbro has completely changed the way the game is played. The cards no longer have to be matched, and you simply collect more cards to get more armies. They don’t even put the symbols on the cards so you can play the old way.
These changes to Monopoly look cosmetic, but they completely destroyed Risk. None of the strategies you remember from the past work anymore.
They did it...they wimped down Monopoly.
Well at least they didn’t go with PC nonsense.
Though it’s only a matter of time before they replace one of the roads with Martin Luther King Blvd.
I’m outraged!! The symbols of honest work — the boot, wheelbarrow and thimble — are being traded in for evolution (the T-Rex), PETA (the penguin) and our cultural snowflakes’ retreat into childish comfort (the rubber ducky). Hasbro has gone PC!!!!
The bank still lends money, but now you don’t have to pay it back. And everybody owns Boardwalk! LOL
The cynic in me believes that all these changes are simply setting Hasbro up to start selling a “classic” version of Monopoly with all the original pieces.
Have the Monopoly set that we bought some 40 years ago and at least once a month family all plays together. Was thinking about getting a new one but will just keep the one we have - as a collector’s item, one of these days it may be worth a lot.
Had to look up whether or not Atlantic City has one of those, and it turns out it does. The old name, Illinois Avenue, lives on in the Monopoly game board.
Monopoly is about free enterprise. While a thimble, a wheelbarrow, and a boot are problematic symbols of economic activity Tyrannosaurus rex, a penguin and a rubber ducky are not. Next will be a chance card requiring all players to redistribute their holdings equally.
I have my Get Out of Jail Free card in my wallet. Fortunately I’ve never had to use it.........
