Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster has a shaved head and gung-ho manner that only add to his reputation as the U.S. Armys leading warrior-intellectual, one who often quotes famed Prussian general and military theorist Carl Von Clausewitz. A decade ago, McMaster fought a pitched battle inside the Pentagon for a new concept of warfare to address the threat from Islamist terrorists and insurgents in Afghanistan, Iraq and other trouble spots. Now, his new mission is more focused. Target: Moscow.
POLITICO has learned that, following the stunning success of Russias quasi-secret incursion into Ukraine, McMaster is quietly overseeing a high-level government panel intended to figure out how the Army should adapt to this Russian wake-up call. Partly, it is a tacit admission of failure on the part of the Army and the U.S. government more broadly.

But Trump loves Russia, how can this be?
Don’t know what to believe from the Politico.

The Army has a plan to attack everyone, constantly updated.
Kinda like my SIL has a plan to spend every one of my brother’s dollars, constantly updated :)
Yes but the main takeaway for me is his view of Russia as a threat period.
LTG McMaster is chief of TRADOC’s Army Capabilities Integration Center, which is partly a “think tank.” Thus there is probably a bit of truth in the article as ARCIC deals with the Army’s future training requirements

LOL
You gotta have a plan for everybody. Nothing unusual about that.
I understand what you mean. That this is now a priority. I don’t know.
What is wrong with modern Army theory can certainly be rectified by enlisting more trans genders, more homosexuals, women infantry, more women in ships and submarines, more diversity enlistees (Muslims), etc. That is all we need. Our diversity is our strength, while the Russian army would be plagued by the weakness of being populated by only tough, patriotic Russians.
I'd be worried if they didn't.

Good one!
I don’t want a strategic policy that develops an army to target Moscow
Do these idiots understand the Pentagon creates contingency plans for just about everything?!
Just more Fake News.
Yes I don’t think McMaster’s plan is to “literally” target Moscow — he is simply pointing out where our military is lagging in capabilities compared to them —as revealed by their most recent campaigns. He wants us to be the bar none strongest military in the world — a goal Trump constantly touts.
That being said, what I’m interested in is: how does McMaster view Russia strategically/politically -> can we ever ally with them in the pursuit of common interests, in the Middle East for example? Or are they fundamentally “hostile” to our interests? (As they ally with countries like Iran etc...)
As patriotic as they are, they definitely don’t want to be our enemies. I met quite a few while living there who have either served or are currently conscripted in the Russian military. Nobody has an interest in the possibility of military altercation between the two nations and neither does Trump.
I just want to know if diplomatically/strategically, McMaster would see common ground like Flynn did...
Good question. Would also like to know the answer.
I'll be sending you a bill for my new keyboard. ROFL
