One of the most pressing topics that the NFL league office will discuss this offseason is how to either increase, or at least stop the slide in ratings seen over the course of the 2016-2017 season. This may be a good start.
Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Taylor Lewan thinks the NFL should allow brief unmediated fighting similar to what the NHL allows.

The only foreseeable issues would be punching a player with a helmet and facemark with your bare knuckles is not typically a good idea. Also, the NHL allows fighting generally until one player goes down to the ice, which with no ice, would pose an issues on when to call it.
Then again, think about all the fans who look forward to fights in a hockey game. Now add 6 inches and 100 pounds to each guy. Talk about exciting.
NFL Ping
Adding a penalty box would increase scoring opportunities.
Ever punch a helmet?
These savages make Ben Davidson look like a choir boy.
Shouldn’t have ever been allowed in hockey in the first place.
I say no. Why? Because NFL players are more likely to be scum than NHL players. When NHL players fight they generally follow certain unwritten rules. NFL players will kill each other and you’ll see gang like attacks on individual opponents. Do I have to explain that to anyone?

How about giving up pink shoes and asinine political commentary for starters?
Visualize the aftereffects of black NFL players fighting white ones. Will the other players jump in to support the one on their team, or of their race?
With the players being huge and padded, it would be hard for the refs to stop it. At least hockey players usually end up on the ice...making it a little easier to control.
The NFL wants ad revenue, to hell with the players well-being.
It will certainly open up more spots for college players...

maybe not coddling wife beaters would help....maybe showing the same treatment to law enforcement as to blaxk lives matter would help...maybe giving 9-11 memorials the same consideration as breast cancer would help...maybe forbidding players to disrespect our country would help...
The Raiders would be constantly serving penalties by playing with 8 men against 11.
Since they wear helmets and pads, they should be able to use a hollow metal pipe, no more than 18 inches, and with an outside diameter of no more than 3/4 inch and a thickness of no more than 1/8 inch, or a solid wooden dowel no more than 1.5 inches across and no more 24 inches with a blunt tip.
Poking or stabbing motions would be illegal. An no inflated balls would be allowed in the arena.
Give the refs cattle prods. Make the gladiators wear metal plates wired to their privates. A good jolt will slow 'em down.
Cool!
The trend in fighting in the NHL is downward. It will eventually be eliminated.
I grew up watching hockey when there were 6 teams. There was some incidental violence from team “enforcers”, but speed, nimbleness, coordinated offenses and defenses and grit (from mostly Canadians) was what made it interesting.
As a Blackhawk fan, Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita were icons of the game.
