Authorities in Maryland have arrested a mother who abused her child causing her to die from injuries.
20-year-old Iris Hernandez Rivas called 911 back on January 26 and requested medical assistance for her unresponsive daughter.
The mother told police her daughter had entered the bathroom and started the shower.
When she heard a noise from the bathroom, she stated she observed her daughter face down in the bathtub.
Hernandez Rivas said she waited one hour before 911.
The daughter was transported to the hospital in serious condition that day.
Medical staff say the little girl had multiple bruises on her body and suffered head trauma that could have been a result of physical abuse.
She was then flown by helicopter to another hospital, where she later died due to her injuries.
Investigators say the mother told them the next day she kicked her daughter in the stomach after she wouldn’t brush her teeth the previous morning.
Hernandez Rivas said as a result of the kick, her daughter fell backward and hit her head on the wall.
She said her daughter then fell to the ground and appeared lethargic.
That’s when she said the 4-year-old went to the bathroom and turned the shower on, and later found her face down in the tub.
Hernandez Rivas was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree child abuse and one count of first-degree assault.
She is currently being held without bond.

20 is too young to have a 4 year old. A high school sophomore is way too immature to become a parent.

The lesser charge is enough to hold her. The DA needs some time to tigger the final charge. That’s my guess.
Figure. For instance, a murder charge would require proof of intent. Don’t think it’s there. Manslaughter, certainly.

So the part about the four year old turning on the shower is made up I guess? (Probably - what four year old takes a shower?)
And did she wait an hour before calling 911, or did 911 arrive an hour after she called? BUT - what I really want to know is - did the paramedics find the little girl laying face down in the tub? I could almost see that with the idiot egg-donor not wanting to “disturb” the evidence.

Oops. The photo of the little girl in my post 15 is not of the daughter. I thought it was from the same article that I found the mother’s photo. Same site, different story. Sorry. I’ve asked that it be removed.
...I didn’t notice the deformity until after posting. Saw it just as a blur at first glance (3:30AM here).
Then again, the condition could conceivably have existed. The girl in the photo appeared Hispanic (like the mother) and appeared about 4-years-old.
I would guess after the autopsy, and it’s proven the abuse is what definitely killed her, the charges will be upgraded to murder.
you’d have to change the “family” court system/industry where all mothers are viewed as saintly victims and all fathers are viewed as evil, brutish walking ATMs.
