Four years ago I posted about the "McLean Stevenson Effect" which you can read HERE.
Basically, McLean Stevenson starred on the hit series M*A*S*H. However, after 3 seasons in the role of Henry Blake, Stevenson got tired of being part of an ensemble and decided to leave the show and go it alone on the "McLean Stevenson Show" which was an immediate flop. His career never recovered and his name has become synonymous with really poor entertainment career decisions. You could even consider McLean Stevenson to be the patron saint of that type of poor judgement.
Okay, so my question is, will Megyn Kelly suffer from the curse of the "McLean Stevenson Effect?" To me the signs are all there. She has/had a built in audience at Fox News which she alienated by her attacks upon Donald Trump. However, if she thinks she will be attracting a new audience at NBC, she needs to be aware that the liberals still dislike her for merely being associated with Fox News. That is what I am reading on the web now. In addition, she appears to be spread very thin in her new role as morning host and a couple of other slots at NBC. Maybe she could even substitute for Brian Williams.
Her biggest flaw might be thinking it was all about her. What she doesn't get is that the Fox News audience (which she won't get at NBC) was essential for her previous ratings success.
All I know is her quick descent at NBC will be very painful. Megyn will spend the rest of her life wishing she never left her Fox News gig (along with regretting attacking Trump).
What McLean Stevenson's name means for TV entertainment, Megyn Kelly's name could become synonymous with poor TV news department decisions.
Who here remembers “Hello Larry”? I believe that was another attempt by McLean to have another starring vehicle that did not quite get off the ground. I also remember him being a semi-regular on “Match Game” (he would sit in Richard Dawson’s old spot after Richard himself quit that show).
She is mean-spirited and sharp-tongued. So unattractive.
Me-again knows that her looks are chiefly what pays the bills and that beauty is fleeting. She’s desperate to leverage those looks to make as much cash as possible before they fade away and she finds herself reporting sports news on some backwater podunk TV station.
I know how we can find out. Wait and see!
Wat?
He starred in cinema classic, The Cat from Outer Space.
She got crosswise with O’Reilly who felt she should have been more deferential for helping her along, and evidently was something of a prima donna. I happened to like her smart-mouth style, having a similar trait myself, but I can see that her style is not what many have come to expect from news people at the peacock network. The model seems to be more “rise from the NBC ranks” than to bring in “superstars” from the outside.
Megyn who?
FoxNews discounted her quickly after her hour-special on Fox Channel got dismal ratings. That was probably what cost her a big raise at FoxNews.
“...Remember Katie Couric?...”

Vaguely. I remember when she used to be referred to as “perky”. While channel surfing I saw what she looks like now. “Perky” is no longer appropriate to describe her -— “spry” would be the word that comes to mind now.
Same as the Paul Simon effect who ditched Garfunkel for a losing solo career. He never recovered.
Kelly who. What career. Just another zero media person.
Think about it. She left a $20 million/year sure thing at Fox News to go to NBC. NOT a smart move.
Does anybody remember Herv Villachaise? He played the part of the midget on Fantasy Island. He thought there was big market for little people who say “Boss, da plane, da plane.” So much for that career.
And then there is the sad solo career of Jerry Lewis after the split from Dean Martin.
Everything about Kelly seems to be focused around her and her desires.
Now I'm not trying to foist Christian principles and ethics on perhaps a non believer, but there are still laws that operate in the world that are often unexplainable, Murphy's Law, The Peter Principle (etc.) and I think Kelly has chosen her own path out of what was a superb job before she jumped on Trump and rather than apologize, she's danced all around it.
I'll give her TWO years, one for the start-up enthusiasm and the "inspection" and a slow burn down and out.
When Benedict Arnold defected to the British, the British Officers were always suspicious to him.
“Ike, do your impersonation of David Caruso’s career.”
Don’t forget how John Travolta went into oblivion after leaving “Welcome Back Kotter”.
He did not have a happy life. Though he was a midget (under four feet tall), he had normal size organs which put enormous pressure on his small body. He was in near constant pain in his later years.
