A greedy dog ruined her family's Christmas after scoffing the turkey intended for their festive dinner. According to the pet's owner David Barrett, from Prestwick, South Ayrshire, Bubba, 5, a Chi Apso, (a cross between dog breeds Chihuahua and a Lhasa Apso), snuck into the kitchen on Christmas Eve and stole the food, which had been left on the side. The family had no idea what their hungry pooch had done until she suddenly collapsed bloated on the floor and unable to move.

We had a lab like that. She would eat anything to excess. We had to be careful. Found her gnawing on a rock hard frozen chicken once. Pure food psycho.

My thoughts exactly.
Dog saved family from food poisoning considering how long they would have left the turkey out.

Whenever I leave food out on the table, I place mouse traps near it. Ya just never know what you might catch!

#2 is really important (don’t leave the turkey out overnight). The dog may have saved them from serious food poisoning.

News story picked up from a tweet. I seriously doubt they called the papers.

Some years ago, my dog ate a very large carrot cake while we were out of the house. He was sprawled on the floor, moaning, when we got back. AND we were living in England at the time.

If I had only called the UK Daily Mail...we could have been stars!

“Her owner took to Twitter to share the hilarious snap of his pet twice her normal size, which quickly racked up 24,000 likes...”

Alas, my episode took place before social media and tens of thousands of people who had nothing better to do than look at Twitter.

I once left a still-sealed jar of Pupperoni sticks on the floor .....and the next day I saw two of my pups moving rather slowly. Couldn’t believe the littlest one figured out how to take the seal off, then PRY the lid. To test I bought another jar, put it on the floor and watcher her work it. She did have it all figgered out.

It’s a story from a British paper. They say “scoff”. “Scarf” is a much more recent variation of that word.

They lied. It wasn’t a whole turkey but one already cooked breast that was to serve 3 people. Why the heck would they leave the meat out over night? Good thing the dog ate it instead of the idiots.

I think because the turkey was clearly as large as the dog. He’s enormous after eating the turkey.
