About half the world's population is right-handed but has left-handed family members. Such right-handers have special neurological organization of language and thought.
This has implications for therapies and our understanding of the genetic bases for language.
Our brain imaging studies show that grammatical knowledge is represented differently if you have left-handers in your family. For example, when it comes to language, everyones brain responds to certain language tasks quickly.
But that response is much stronger in the brain's right hemisphere if you have left-handers in your family and stronger in the left hemisphere if you have no left-handers in your family

What about those people who are ambidextrous?
(Like me, for example)

I’d give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

And then switches to counter clockwise.
To: central_va
The figure appears to go counterclockwise then if I change my eye positions moving to left of it, I see it then turn clockwise.
To: donna
She was counter and I made it switch. Now I cant switch it back>

As a lefthander, I certainly object to all the right handed items I am forced to buy. Most all have absolutely NO alternatives for us, a oppressed minority, to buy. Some recent examples: right handed coffee mugs, letter openers, and belt loops. I think reparations are certainly in order.

Clockwise = right brain dominate = left handed. Makes sense.

I looked again and it was going counter. I tried to make it switch back but couldn’t.

That is a wild illusion! I can make her spin counterclockwise, but as soon as I shift focus, she goes back to clockwise. I am left-handed and somewhat anbidextrous.
